Hi All!

My name is lain. I started vaping around a year and a half ago.. My kit consisted of two ego vv batteries, kanger protank mini 2 and a iclear 16.
I was doing this for about 6 months, "recruiting" friends who was sick of regular cigarettes and they quickly became as good as i was (and are now into RTA's).

After a while my tanks started leaking and just creating terrible taste. Most of them started tasting burnt and i just couldn't handle the hassle. Started with regular cigarettes again and have been smoking for about 6 months now.
Recently i've been thinking of getting back into the game, and going straight to RTA's. I have experience in building other similar stuff so the learning curve won't be that high. I also tried out my friends KF clone (can't remember which version) which tasted fantastic (clearo's are a joke comparing to RTA's) and got me excited in starting again.

So uhm, that's my introduction.. Been lurking these forums way too long without registering and i figured it was time :)
I also have tons of question regarding all the RTA's on the market which i was thinking starting a thread about over there. But maybe i could get some answers through this post?

Anyways, glad to be here!

Hi! Thanks for the warm welcome.

Yea like i said, i've been lurking for a long time and for the past few days searching for the perfect mod+rta combo. Initially i was leaning towards an eleaf istick and a kayfun clone but seeing all the other RTA's makes me curious.
Also, what's the reasoning behind running with sub-ohm coils?

Basically what i'm after is an inconspicuous setup. Like i said i'm leaning towards a box mod but i was wondering if there's anything really small out there and with interchangeable batteries? I'm kind of worried about running a box mod which will eventually not hold a charge worth a damn.

And for an RTA... same thing here, i want it to be as small as possible. And what i'm looking for is something with fantastic flavor. I don't care about anything else other than size and flavor.

Welcome Iain

If you're into mouth-to-lung hits, the kayfun lite plus is a rock solid RTA but it's not really designed for sub-ohming. I've been using Kayfun Lite Plus clones (have 6 now) and they have drop tanks so you can move down to a much smaller profile and still get almost 3 ml of juice in a tankful. If you're more interested in direct lung hits, the Atlantis and the Subtank are also solid. The Subtank and the Subtank mini can run with either stock coils or you can use the rebuildable decks and just re-wick it when necessary. As far as batteries/power sources go, There is a wide variety available. If you are looking for stealth and replaceable batteries, stay away from the MVP or iStick. Both are sealed systems, although they both offer extraordinary battery life right now. Look at the Sigelei 30 or 50, IPV mini 30W or 70W, etc.

Others will chime in with additional suggestions on RTAs and tanks, I'm sure. There are dozens to choose from.

Thanks alot dhood!

I was considering the KFL+ and the Subtank, but searching around i see people recommending a plethora of other rta's. The one sticking out is the Rose V2, and seems to be the one for "maximum flavor". The downside to this tank is the size and the fact that there's no glass/SS, which is something i'm looking for as well.
My old protank 2 mini came with a broken glass and started leaking fairly quickly, so i'm somewhat hesitant to kanger. Then again i ordered from fasttech so maybe that was the reason...

I'll check those mods out!

EDIT:
Oh yeah i forgot about one thing. coil tools. I was wondering which one is considered the most complete coil toolkit? I'd rather just get one than using something at home because, why make things harder?

Welcome!
I'm not disregarding what you said about being inconspicuous, but I don't really have advice that fits that bill. I do know if you're willing to spend a little money the Vaporshark box is very small with a big personality. There's also a bigger box, dual 18650, called the MyBox. Grimm Green did a review on that box and despite the price tag, it looks like fairly meat and potatoes box. Nothing crazy, but durable. I can vouch for the vaporshark but not the mybox. The benefit of the mybox is that it runs two batteries in parallel (as do dozens of other boxes) so that the daily battery life problem is not such a problem. Hope this is some help.

Yea i found this link and figured it probably is the most comprehensive list out there.
FAKE EDIT: So i couldn't post the link, i assume it's for spam safety. Anyhoo, it listed all the box mods under $100.
I realized that i'll probably have to change my criteria a bit. Honestly it's not that important if it has interchangeable batteries. What matters most is how small it is, specifically in length, which is why i've ruled out mech mods (is that what they're called?)
The thing i liked about my ego's was that the diameter was tolerable and that they came in different sizes. However, i'm still leaning towards box mods. I'd want something similar to a packet of cigarettes but smaller is of course preferable. And price of course. I'm not sure how many shops in the US delivers to Europe either so i think my best bet will be fasttech as well. The only one that really fit my previous criteria was the Cloupor Mini but with it melting for some, i'm wary. I'd rather have a box mod with non-interchangeable batteries than one that burst into flames, heh.

If you want inconspicuous, you don't want sub-ohm. Sub-ohm builds will typically give you larger clouds.

Welcome to the forum :)

I'm fairly sure more people will give you many options. Welcome back to vaping also!

Thanks!
Ok, but what's the deal with sub-ohm? Is it mainly for bigger clouds or does it have an effect on taste as well? Big clouds doesn't matter to me at all, only flavor. I also liked an "airy" draw if i remember correctly.

Some think that sub-ohm gives better flavor. My theory, it may give better flavor because when you sub-ohm, you have to go down in nic mg. Bigger vapor, more nic per hit. When you remove more nic from the equation, you will get more flavor. Nic adds a spiciness that takes away from the flavor, in my opinion.

You can get an airy draw from different devices. If you can get one that has air flow control, that will help with what you are seeking.

Alright, i get it. That was one thing that kind of bothered me (but then again i'm not certain i had any particularly good liquid), that kind of "spiciness" as you describe it. I never went below 12mg but looks like i should go down even more.
Thanks for all the help! I'm gonna read up some more and might post in the other sections regarding my question. Seeya around!
