An Observation in the General Perception of Vaping

There was a brief encounter with a fellow passenger during a designated "smokers" train stop that I feel will illustrate my point.

We had been chatting a bit just before enjoying our smoke break, but as soon as he saw I was vaping instead of smoking tobacco, he couldn't get away fast enough, literally acting as though one whiff could result in something like a scene from Andromeda Strain.

I know most people are unaware of the facts and hear reports that vaping may not be any better than smoking cigarettes. I've seen offensive misinformation posted in doctor's offices. But knowing the complete opposite was true, that vapor is non-toxic and harmless to him compared to his idiotic act of inhaling carcinogens, was unbelievable.

Hmm, perhaps he was in fear of Covid, but clearly the public is not being informed of the facts and seeing as the FDA and CDC are, stating otherwise is costing needless lives.

When scrutinizing the news reporting of today and seeing the lack of integrity and immorality at work, one must seriously question if any vape related fatalities had ever really occurred or was it fake news.

I only know of one fatality. I think the kid also blew his testicle off while killing himself with what essentially became a pipe bomb in his pocket. This of course took place in my much maligned home state of Florida. I think a Walmart was nearby too.

I admit, the news source was sketchy.. and I might have confabulated the Walmart part.

In general, this has nothing to do with the covid fear. I've experienced this as far back as 8 years ago and it's one major reason why I refuse to vape around smokers (that and because they stink to high heaven and it suffocates me). This irrational fear displayed by the smoking dolt is the result of the very effective anti-vape campaign(s) by govt and non-govt orgs. People are sheep, it's very easy to sway their opinion especially if you are deemed/self-deemed an authority and fear is the most effective way to sway these sheep. The more fear, the better. They eat it all up because they have near-perfect trust in their govt and the organizations that work hand-in-hand with the govt.

When he was "running for his life" you should've started screaming and gasping for air and acting like having a seizure on the floor.

When this idiot passenger would return with some help from train personnel, you'd act like nothing ever happen. Blame it on his imagination.
See, I’m guessing these encounters are less common in the UK.

    Gotta be honest here.
Personally i wouldn't stand close to anyone that is smoking or vaping, pre covid times sure i wouldn't have a problem but these days? nah i want to do as much as i can to remain safe.

Did he know you were also going to ''smoke/vape''? in that case yeah he probably is just as ill informed as a lot of people when it comes to vaping.
But if he didn't know you smoked or vaped and you were in close proximity i would have done the same thing and got out of dodge.

I can't remember the last time anyone complained about my vaping, even in a restaurant. I vape at 8 or 10 watts, 70% PG, and exhale downward. The vapor doesn't cloud and what's there is gone in a second or two. I still get my 3mg hit and no one seems to notice.

I see people vaping clouds standing outside and I'm happy to be inside where the climate is nice.

I'm surprised a restaurant in the USA would allow vaping at all.

I usually try to find a table in a corner out of the way. I don't produce clouds and no one has complained in years. Wait staff doesn't seem to notice. 70pg dissipates in a couple of seconds.

I couldn't do it with high VG and higher wattage.

This reminds me of a question someone submitted to Ms. Manners years ago. A pregnant woman wanted to know how to respond when complete strangers felt free to pat her tummy. Ms. Manners told her to hunch over, gasp and look horrified as if they'd set off a contraction - or worse.

I've vaped in Home Depot outside in the garden center before when I was frustrated that I couldn't find what i was looking for and the help was of no help. So said screw it, I'm having a vape. Then I found what I was looking for lol

But I guess that doesn't count since it's like vaping in the parking lot
