Analog free 90 days, but this worries me.

I thought this was going to be a dud thread and wondered if I'd get any answers. Wow, have I learned a lot from ya'll.

Satyr, thank you. Now I know it's not just me.

Dabrat: That's encouraging. Maybe it's just time I need or maybe as stated I'll never really experience the smell from DH's analogs until he quits too.

I am always amazed at how much I've learned on this board. You'd think the e-cig discussions would get old, but they never seem too. There is just so much to this e-cig hobby, which it has become for me.

It really is amazing what life without is like... i blew an atty and had to go back to analogs for a couple of days... that was two weeks ago and i'm STILL coughing it up... it tasted awful, messed my sinuses up, i felt the poison in my muscles. And the smell... yeah, i can smell it! I can smell EVERYTHING! Anyway, with all that chatter about how many ml's are too many, here's a link to the New Zealand study... http://www.healthnz.co.nz/2ndSafetyReport_9Apr08.pdf
for those who haven't already read it, it may calm your worries a bit!

To the thread: On the discussion of liquid per day, what nicotine level you are vaping has a lot do to with vapor consumption to me. I've actually started slowly increasing my nic, and my liquid usage is dropping.

To the OP: Your DH still smokes. That's your entire answer. Being in that kind of proximity of the second hand is enough to keep you acclimated to everything but the taste. I noticed it when I quit before. Hanging out with the smokers outside, and going to bars with them kept me completely used to the smoke. So I didn't develop batman super hero smell power. I have developed it this time. At lunch or the end of the day walking out to the parking lot, in my best tonto voice I say "Lone Ranger, man smoke out here half hour ago" then the friends roll their eyes and say "no ....".

Zo my friend, as always your post makes sense.

But I disagree with everyones statement on nicotine giving the buzz from actual analogs. It's really all the other stuff like formaldehyde, cyanide, acetone (which is in nail polish remover and can cause a coma or unconsciousness in extreme doses), etc.

Then what about people who get a buzz from smoking shisha from a hookah?

RedJazzy1: I hadn't read that report, thank you. In that report they state:

In first-time smokers. Acute nicotine toxicity occurs when never-smokers smoke their
cigarette (whether tobacco or e-cigarette), becoming light-headed, with nausea and even
vomiting, lasting typically for half an hour. Many would-be smokers are thus discouraged
from learning to smoke.
Maintenance of steady nicotine blood levels. The experienced smoker of the Ruyan®
e-cigarette controls the nicotine intake to maximise pleasure and minimise discomfort. A
regular e-cigarette or tobacco cigarette smoker adjusts the size or frequency of each
subsequent puff, to maintain nicotine blood levels high enough to avoid unpleasant
craving for a cigarette, and low enough to avoid excessive harshness on the back of the
throat, or light-headedness due to a high blood level of nicotine.

So that answers it. And the posters who said that there were no experiences of light-headedness because we are continuing to take in the nicotine were right.

WOW and a BIG thank you.

I'm going to print this report out and if by chance I get stopped by the police while in the car, I'll hand them this report :)

So I didn't develop batman super hero smell power.

Step into my nerd office please.... *closes door*

Okay man, everyone knows Batman was just a man with all the right tools. A hero for sure but not a super hero. A super hero has extraordinary or magical powers; Batman had a utility belt (which probably contained the original e-cig somewhere on it) and enough money to make any problem go away.

Now Wolverine, Gambit, Superman...there were good sniffers.

Now let's go have a beer and beat up some geeks.

So why don't you feel the buzz? I would say because you are over-vaping BUT more so you probably did not inhale the cigarette like you used to.

Proto, you hit the nail on the head.

When I was smoking analogues, after I would work a long flight, say 14 hours in the air, when I finally got on the ground, I would be so light headed to the point of passing out. Someone told me it was due to the lack of nicotine... the thing is, I was chewing on commit lozengers the whole flight!!!

Then I started thinking.... and doing some research. What I found is the dizziness comes from the carbon monoxide we inhale with burning tobacco. Carbon Monoxide binds with hemoglobin at a cellular level inhibiting oxygen absorbtion. The lower levels of oxygen system wide, plays a huge role in this light headedness...

Something to think about.

Safe Travels!

Just to add another experience......I don't have another smoker in the house, and I have gotten my sense of smell back since e-vaping. I can without a doubt tell when a co-worker has gone outside for a cig break. And I find the smell rather offensive and now have a better understanding of what non-smokers object to when they gave us smokers a hard time about the "stink". I would expect that the majority of vapers, after having quit for a month, have regained sufficient sense of smell as to be able to detect smokers fairly easily. Correct?

Glad you got your info. He was so used to the smell of my smoke, he couldn't smell it.

What I feel bad about is thinking smoking in my office with a HEPA filter was somehow protecting my kid from my second-hand smoke. Guess not:(

Well DaBrat, now, with e-cigs you are protecting your child!
