Analog Nicotine Strength vs Ejuice Strength

Just looking for a difinitive answer on this one...

I smoke 8mg analogs (Soon to say did I hope) Wondering is the Nicotine strength of ejuice directly comparable to the strength of the analogs?

In Australia the basic strengths of analogs are 1,2,4,6,8,12 and 16mg.... Does Vaporing decrease the nic content and do you have to compensate because your vaping and not smoking.

Thanks!

I don't know about aussie cigs, but I smoked Camel Menthol full flavor, at about 2 packs a day. When I started I got 18mg juice and that didn't seem to quite get the job done without puffing on it pretty much non stop. Lately I have been using the 24mg juice and that seems to do the trick just fine, even allowing me to put it down for long spells before needing to vape again.

For the most part I think it's all trial and error, nobody can say for certain what will work for somebody else, but until you find the one that works for you, I would definitely buy in small bottles so that you don't have a bunch of unused juice laying around and money rotting away.

I did some research on this too and what I found(though none of it was definitive) was that the human body absorbed about 1mg of nicotine from the average cigarette(about 10%). I wasn't sure how that translated to ejuice so I looked into that too. The standard for measurement is mg's of nicotine mer ml. So if you get a 10ml bottle of 24mg ejuice, the whole bottle has 240mg of nicotine in it. What I couldn't find was if ejuice nicotine absorption had the same efficiency. If so the 10ml bottle would only equal about a pack of cigarettes, and in my experience that's not the case at all. A 10ml bottle will last me several days.

really all you can do is experiment with different strengths. you may find a flavor that you like to puff on so much that you only need a 6mg strength to feel satisfied. I have never vaped the way I smoked though, vaping is pretty much a constant on for me. I don't chain vape, but I don't stop for long periods of time like I did with cigarettes. probably because I don't have to =]

I was really lucky with that (being as I thought that the 20 mg juice didn't "taste" as good as the 16 or 12 mg.) so for me wanting a better tasting vape I went for a lower strength in nic. That having made the decision for me and the fact that I take an MAOI for my back (happy accident with not knowing that would help me quit analogs) I have been quite happy with a low nic range. My only problem now is everyone who is thrilled I quit snoking wants to know "Just how long it will take me to wean off of the vaping". Likely answer is never *sigh* maybe someday they will just be OK with the fact that this isn't nailing the coffin shut LOL

Once you are off cigarettes totally, and the 4000 chemicals get out of your body, nicotine won't be as addictive. Cigarettes have at least one chemical that makes nicotine more addictive. So worry more about what throat hit feels correct and satisfying to you and the rest should work well. In general, with high PG juices (PG lets through flavor and TH better) consider the following levels which should feel similar in TH to what you smoked and buy a bit of the level on either side to see what you like. If you can get juices with some VG in them that can help avoid being irritated (mouth, throat, lungs) by the nicotine (Nicotine is a skin irritant). If you cannot find blends, with separate PG & VG juices you can mix 3 parts PG and 1 part VG similar flavor to make 75PG/25VG). VG dulls/smooths what PG lets through but adds thicker visible vapor.

full strength 24mg
lights 16-18mg
ultralights 10-12mg

Everyone's different. Some will prefer very different levels.

I really don't think you are going to find a definitive answer. I smoked 2.5 ppd and can handle around 8mg, I am actually awaiting DIY supplies at the moment, so that I can cut down my juice/make my own at lesser mg of nicotine. I recall a post where someone only smoked half a pack of cigs a day and needed 24mg to stay off cigs. I would suggest you buy sample sizes in a few different mg strength. There are no wrongs here, it's all trial and error in the beginning. Good luck in finding that magical number.

There is NO correlation between what you smoked and nic strength of what level you vape. Vaping is not as efficient in getting nicotine into your system as smoking is.

Most vapers start in the 18mg - 24mg level and adjust up or down based on their personal experience. I would start there and adust accordingly. A better battery model PV (5 volt/variable volt) will provide warmer vapor and help with your tansition away from smoking.

I was a Marlboro Lights pack a day smoker, most recently a Golden Virginia hand roller. I jumped straight onto 18mg e-juice and I'm really fine with that. However, I found I was also absolutely fine on 11mg as I was still getting throat hit. I guess the additional significant factor in satisfaction, is whether it's PG, VG, or a combo of both. Vaping is definitely a synergy of factors. But I'm not getting a single desire to smoke an analogue, if that says anything.

There's a lot of speculation out there, but a 35% absorption rate seems just about right. The nic level written on a pack of cigs is the amount of nic you absorb, not how much nic a single cig actually has. So, if you smoke(d) twenty 0.7 mg cigs per day, you'd get roughly the same amount of nic by vaping 3mls of 14 mg juice per day.

That was my old brand too, glad you find a good medium and staying off of cigs, welcome to ECF :)

Even if that wasn't meant for me, I'm going to say thanks :)

Thanks for that post Temporal Fugitive, good to have a guide. Dunno if that is where the OP will find their comfort zone, but it's bang on with where I am I reckon.

Im about to start experimenting with mixing my own juices.... ordered some non-flavoured Juice (2 x 120ml bottles of 36mg VG base and a 4oz bottle of PG)

Ill grab a couple of bottles of different flavours and mix according to this calculator another member linked I found surfing around the forum... eJuice Recipe Calculator

Is 20% the norm flavour percentage you would find in premixed juices you would buy, if I was to buy a doubler common sense would tell me to drop the ration to 10%, does this sound right?

I can experiment this way without spending a fortune and continually waiting on NIC flavoured juices to arrive from overseas :)
