Nicotine Strength Question

Hi!

I'm new to vaping and have done a little DIY and have a question about the Nicotine Base Strength. I see there are a lot of different strengths to buy up to 100mg. When I look at the recipes to make the ejuice on Youtube they talk about "cutting" the base down to make 18mg strength juice. Does it matter what strength Nic base I buy, since I'm "cutting" it to a certain strength?

Been cigarette free for 50 days now!! I don't stink anymore, but I sure can smell people who do smoke now!

Awesome! congratulations on quitting

It may be advisable to start with a lower nic (24mg/ml-36mg/ml) level when first starting out to minimize risks in case of mixing errors. I ordered 24mg/ml 60/40 with the intent of a final juice of 16mg/ml 70/30. There's not a huge cost savings in the big picture starting with 100mg/ml, get a few batches under your belt, IMO...

nope its just cheaper in the long run to buy the largest/strongest you can. but since you are cutting it anyways it does not matter.

but make sure you use a good calculator like ejuicemeup or similar to be safe.

Not as far as I know. I buy 100mg to get the best bang for my buck, so to speak, and cut it down to what i need.

I went with 36mg/ml first time.
Just ordered some 54mg/ml (2- 125ml bottles)
Won't go 100mg/ml- stuff is too 'nasty' to handle IMHO

I would be too nervous to handle such a high proof nic base. Personally I would go with a lower nic base to get the hang of it and then go for the savings. I have little kids and cats and, oh yah...shaky hands! lol!!! Good luck to you and congrats!!!

I went with the 100 mg/ml the first time. No problems, used the calculator and tested my very first base to just make sure I understood the concept. I was on target and good to go.

I guess it depends on your comfort level with mixing things. If you cook and can follow a recipe, or if you have some chemistry in your past, it is absolutely no problem.

if it makes people nervous a trick i used to do is immediately double the 100 mg - get a 60ml bottle and throw in 60ml PG and right away you have120 ml of 50mg. now its safer.

Welcome to ECF! I've just dipped my toe in the DIY world. I started with 48mg nic base because I wanted to get a feel for working with it before going to 100mg base. The DIY forum has lots of excellent information to get you started. Here's a link directly to the forum....
