My two oldest children are 21 and 22, and both still at home while they attend university, so needless to say, I have a regular stream of young adults coming into my house. I will still call them children and kids though, because that is what they are to me..
Anyway, I find their attitudes so very refreshing. Every single one of them has been giving me high fives etc for my switch to a PV, and they are all very happy for it. This in opposition to so many adults who feel the need to give the old "why not just quit"? speech, or actually talk down on it, like its the new coming apocalypse.
Children have not lived long enough yet to have developed the morally superior, holier than thou "I am not a smoker and have never been one" tone, that I am noticing more and more nowadays.

the odd thing about this though, is that these kids have been raised from the cradle to know that smoking is terrible for you. They were preached to in kindergarten, for god's sake, about the hazards of smoking, and practically encouraged to nag their parents to quit. These older folks ( I most certainly can, and I'm not exactly ancient yet) can remember the time when it was no big deal really to smoke. So what gives with this?

College students are always too busy either studying or having fun to be stuck-up about everything! :) They sound pretty cool. I think, the older people get, the grouchier they get (usually)... I mean they're tired, they have aches and pains everywhere, and they've been through a lot of stuff... also maybe the older folks have seen more loved ones taken out by smoking, so they develop more hatred towards it.. I dunno.. just a theory. The younger you are, the more care-free you are... right? :)

I fully appreciate that the older ones might harbor more hatred towards smoking itself..but one would think that this hatred would embrace ANYTHING that helped people to stop it, and not be so determined to make anything less than the "regular" way, the wrong way. Had a lady tell me in no uncertain terms, that using the e-cig was jut as bad as smoking, because it SEEMED like smoking..said I needed to just do it cold turkey. Told me that she had quit 10 years ago after 5 years of smoking.
"You smoked for 5 whole years and quit?"
"Yes, quit just like that!"
"And it did not hurt at all? No cravings, no grumpy?"
"Nope. I just stopped doing it. Didnt even think about it once I had decided to do it. "
My final response she did not appreciate at all. what I said was
"Uh huh. If you quit smoking, and did not feel any pain over it, you were never a smoker. You were a person who had a cigarette sometimes."

The kids were taught what smoking IS and that's it's bad, they are just smart enough to be able to tell what smoking a cigarette is and what it is not.

....The young are almost always open to new ideas.....

So all of us over 35 - 40 year smokers are young? Well young at heart at the very least....

Did you tell her that she should stop drinking water, because it looks just like drinking Vodka? It might lead an alcoholic to think of having a drink.
