Found myself wandering the web trying to get more info on these "fantastic e-cigs" some friends were talking about and found myself here.

I have to say, as a smoker , I was skeptical at first. But after a few days of reading , and reading, and reading ( and still having questions) I'm getting ready to purchase my first... something... Still trying to figure out exactly what i'm looking for.

Thank goodness for communities such as these. :)

Well I swore to myself I'd spend some time educating myself before asking the "ok so i'm new and what do I buy?" questions. Although I have to admit my brain feels like chewing gum from all I've been taking in.

I'm a moderate yet consistent smoker 1/2 - 3/4 a pack a day ( Cdn packs of 25) more of course if i'm socially drinking etc.
I have come to some conclusions though...

Psychologically I NEED to have something that looks like a cigarette, even realizing they are not always the best choice. So as amazing as some units might be for battery life and or other downfalls, i'll put up with a lot for the "look"

Also - i'm rather lazy, so easier the better to start. I don't want to DIY for mixing juice etc. at least not till i've quit smoking and have some energy back ;)

Being in Canada makes it more difficult as I'd prefer to be replacing my nicotine intake. instead i've resolved myself to probably complimenting with the patch or what have you... unless there are other suggestions of course.

So based on that i'm open to suggestions...
Thanks!

How much does it need to look like a cigarettes. Anything the exact same diameter as a cigarette is a weak choice w/ extremely tiny annoying recessed cart that hold very little juice. If that is what you want, then see LiteCigUSA.net for M401 manual - size of a 110 cigarette or for less battery charge and shorter see M402 manual. And you'll need eliquid and after not too long you'll need to restuff the carts (recommend cutting blue foam plugs for them from the precut 510-sized pieces at strictlyejuice.com

If you are willing to go to a slightly larger diameter - 9mm then you can actually get a popular starting ecig - Joye 510 manual. A bit less battery charge than M401, more than M402, but has lots of stuff available for it - good cartomizers like the BOge 510 ones (standard resistance only should be used on slim 510, not LR). I think at NiteLiteVapor you can get tan standard resistance Boge cartos which with a White Joye 510 will make it look pretty much like a cigarette. If you don't care about the look, I much prefer the black 510's (usually have a blue led but Cignot.com might have black w/ red LED) and blank Boge cartos.

Any of these are short battery life so buy an extra charger for at work. And for 510, a nice PCC can be found at NoSmokeVA.com

Sorry - just realized you are in Canada. You can find Joye 510's in Canada and you should be able to find standard resistance (3.0-ish) Boge cartos as well but I don't know if you will find tan. And I highly recommend manual 510 batteries - manual 510s are totally sealed metal on the end and you can drip on the atty w/ a drip tip to test juices etc. Manuals also won't turn on accidentally from wind or vibration. And they give you more control of your hit. It is still like smoking.

After 5 posts or replies in New Members, and about an hour wait, then you will be able to post in the Canada forum on ECF and elsewhere, receive PMs, shop in the ECF Canada classified ads etc

THE "LOOK LIKE A CIG" will pass a week of using a 510 battery, switching it out every 2-3 hours...

I recommend the Screwdriver as seen in my avatar, battery will last all day and you can use LR attys on it to make it hit harder like a analog- $75 can get you completely set up. I started with a "Ego" kit, its a great start, but i recommend always paying a little more for good equipment right off the bat vs wasting money. WE ARE HERE TO HELP

Well i'm not afraid of getting something now and upgrading later. As for the "look" it doesn't have to look exactly like an analog but I'd be hard pressed to pull out something like the screwdriver at work ( a social services office) and not have it mistaken for a crack pipe ;)

I have actually been looking at the 510 - as charging isn't and issue for me. I'm 12 hours a day at a computer so never too far from a plug.
And switching out a battery every few hours to start is still a more positive step than digging around for my lighter or heading outside in the dead of a Canadian winter to have myself a smoke. :)

I do see, however, that this first purchase will just be a stepping stone to bigger and better things.
I just really don't want to buy some useless POS right off the bat.

Would the 510's at Alien Vision be comparable to the Joye mentioned above?
