..just ordered a kayfun Lite from across the pond.

This will be my first foray into the world of rba's, so I am seeking advice from other kayfun Lite owners.

  1. What wicking material would you recommend for a novice
  2. What coil material and gauge? I'm thinking Kanthal in the 32 to 34ga range

Keep in mind I'm new at this. Your wisdom is greatly appreciated. :nun:

Silica will be easy to work with, it lasts a good time, and it's not bank breakingly expensive. For even cheaper wicking material, use Sterile USP cotton. It can easily be had in large quantities at your local CVS, RiteAid, anything like that. Check the medical or cosmetic section. Make sure it's 100% cotton, with no bleaching or anything like ther.

For wire, get yourself some 30 and 32 gauge. It's great for starters, its cheap from ebay with fast shipping, and can easily make resistances for variable voltage devices. If you're going all mech, try a micro coil with 28 ga kanthal.

Keep us posted with your adventures, and feel free to ask questions!

Also, always be safe with your batteries.

I built my Kayfun Lite with Ekowool (2mm). I think 32 gauge Kanthal is pretty much the standard into building stuff for RBAs. Using 3/4 or 4/5 wraps with 32 should get you a good resistance for a Provari.

I get all of my wire from eBay. There's a company called Temco that sells 50-100 feet for $5-$10. There is another vendor from eBay called Lightning Vapes that I have been using for my ekowool and silica. He is a great guy and sent me out extra stuff when the USPS misrouted my stuff.

You should practice wrapping coils if your wick and wire gets there before your Kayfun. That is probably the most difficult part of building atomizers. Personally, I use an alligator clip to hold my wire and silica and then wrap it free hand. There are other methods, but that is the easiest for me.

I watched a few Kayfun setup videos where they use a figure 8 or other complicated builds, but I have found simply using silica folded in half works fine. You just need to make sure you don't use too much wick, so it doesn't clog the chimney part of the Kayfun lite.

for my VV i double 3mm silica and wrap with 32g for right at 2 ohms
for my mech i double 3mm and wrap with 30g for 1 ohm.

both of them run fantastic. this is probably one of the easier rbas to get up and running.

just remember. the coil needs to be over the hole. i seen a few setups where after playing and attaching it gets pulled to the sides.

and recheck the coil for a short after screwing on the chimney tube as twisting this sometimes pulls the wick. and there is nothing worse then putting it together, filling it, and realizing somethings not right and you have to tear it down .

and last but not least. dont make the ends of the wick too long but make sure the ends of the wick are down in the sides well, if they dont go down far enough it will not wick properly i use a very small screwdriver to stuff it down there.
