I've been thinking about this a lot. I love the Smilin Menthol from V4L, which I really didn't expect to like much at all, but the stuff tastes like an Andes. I want to be able to replicate it through TV if I can figure out how to do it.

My ruminations thus far have suggested you would need three major flavors to do it right: sweet milk chocolate, mint, and a little menthol.

This is coming from somebody who's never mixed anything, so I could be missing out on something. I don't know if sweet milk chocolate is in the cards or not, but if not maybe you could use a standard chocolate (not mocha) and add in a little dairy/cream and sweetener if necessary?

In my head I'm thinking 2 parts chocolate (%40), 2 parts mint (%40) and 1 part menthol (%20). Dunno if that would balance or not, kind of hard to guesstimate when you've never mixed the flavors.

I'm seriously considering buying the requisite single flavors and experimenting until I find the proper recipe, then give it to Geoff and see if he'll pre-mix it for sale. After I figure it out I don't mind doing it myself, but I imagine a lot of people would be interested that don't want to muck around with mixing.

We had them mix up some 'Thin Mint' on our last order, in hopes of a Peppermint Patty or Girl Scout Cookie flavor. It is absolutely delish! It tastes more like the cookies, and has a 'cooling' effect on the exhale.

We were trying to avoid the 'waxy sweet' flavor of Andes; perhaps he could add a little vanilla or sweetener to make it more like Andes for you?

Hope that helps!

I never thought of Andes as being waxy, guess that's down to tastebuds. Definitely wouldn't like them if that's what I perceived.

I can annihilate a box of thin mints, they're most definitely tasty, but I'm looking for something a bit more icy minty in this flavor. That might just be a matter of adding a bit of menthol to what you've come up with. I'm basically trying to concoct a chocolate breath mint with a slight menthol kick to open up my airways. Nothing eye-watering from either sensation, aiming for a balance between the choc and other elements so the effect as a whole is crisp but quiet. Nothing should be stomping around on my tongue or in my sinuses wearing big, heavy boots.
