Alrighty, droid-geeks...

Anyone tried this yet:
Google Voice>Sipgate>GV Callback

I got it working on 2 android phones...currently, beta testing the reliability...

Any others tried this?

This combo will use your data plan or wifi and bypass your voice plan=free calls.

Very useful for those either on a shared family plan or on Virgin Mobile's $25/month unlimited data plan.

Sporting a Samsung Moment, rooted & running a Radioactive Froyo rom...drooling for my upgrade to a Samsung Epic soon. :)

Sent from my SPH-M900 using Tapatalk

Ive got the EPIC, and it is just that but I havent found a decent rom, Everyone keeps talking about the evo having 2.2 but Ill take my hummingbird processor over a snap dragon any day. 1 ghz isnt always 1ghz, the screen is freaking unbelievable. I download crap all the time and if i dont finish it on the phone ill stream it to my ps3 or my laptop. Just waiting in limbo for my froyo and hoping the free up kies, its a much better software than just a sync.

Some of you probably know about this already, but it's a new discovery for me so I thought I'd share. You can tether your phone without rooting it through PDAnet. The app is in the market, or you can just go to PDAnet on your computer and it will walk you through the steps. It's super easy- no need to be a techie.

I set it up on my Eris a couple of weeks ago and it works perfectly. After 30 days of full access, they require a $16 one-time fee to continue viewing secure sites. You can still have free access to non-secure sites. To me, $16 is nothing compared to the monthly fee some providers charge for tethering. Verizon doesn't even offer it for the Eris, even though the phone is clearly capable of it.

Only problem with the EPIC is the community support. I would put my EVO against any EPIC anyday as far as speed goes, although I'm running a custom rom and kernal. EPIC does have a way nicer screen which kinda makes me jealous and the hummingbird processor is a little better as well. In the end they are both really nice Android phones.

Can't wait for Feb 7th when Sprint makes an announcement via Magician David Blaine. Hopefully it will be something big since Sprint didnt seem to make a big Splash at CES. Lots of rumors as to what will be announced but rumor has it that a bunch of Android websites were invited so lets hope its not another Android Tablet.

Kinda hard not to be jealous of At&t's Motorola Atrix (google or youtube it)

I loved the Evo it was all I ever wanted and honestly sprint was a little misleading when the epic came out it had a couple videos that kind of bashed the evo, I thought it didnt have DLNA which is a big deal for me, I stream movies and tv shows all the time to friends PS3's and my own, as well as sharing videos across various networks. I should have known better since all the essentials were already in the evo to make it happen. Another big issue is that I work for a I.T. firm and I occasionally have to do some massive emails when Im on a site and I dont have a PC (hence the reason Im there) So the physical keyboard comes in handy for more massive typing, but I came over from black berry and wanted that keyboard feel, now I never use it unless its over 100 words or has a lot of punctuation. But in short I often wish I would have got an evo for the fact i havent found a decent ROM yet so Im back on the stock build with no froyo :(

As for the announcement I would bet money its an announcement about either more 4g, Or more 4g phones. I havent really seen anything on phonescoop about any new sprint phones or deals so its hard to tell, I just hope it dosnt come down and make my phone obsolete in one fell swoop. If they managed to get the iphone and kept it under wraps that would be funny but I freaking hate that piece of Junk!!!!! apple proprietary BULL.....

So where is all the EVO users at?? I'm running Myn's Warm 2.2 Rom which is the best IMHO. Anyone with an HTC phone needs to check out XDA Developers, the members over there are simply amazing at what they can do.

Another Evo here, but mine is still a virgin, unrooted. I'd like to try out rooting and rom's, but I'm not the brightest or sharpest crayon in the box. Us dumb folks need to stick to the little things like walking and chewing gum.

I did hear a fun rumor that the big announcement is some new phone with some kind of 3D screen, like the new nintendo DS that will be coming out. Not likely but it's so hush hush that it's fun to guess. Usually, there is some kind of leak, but they really are keeping this under wraps.

the next thing will be using your phone at POS in stores to pay for goods. this is already a everyday thing in asia, apple is talking about incorporating it into the iphone5, most smart phones COULD do it now with an app but the retailers and banks need to get on board before it really takes off.
