ok ,so I'm pretty certain that I'm understanding all things 'e cigs' better now EXCEPT for these darn attys.I only have the two stock attys,so I'm pretty gentle on them(4 sec drags max and 1 hit every 30 seconds).Im just so darn scared of them going out because I'm comfortably off analogs right now and don't wanna look back.Anyways, what are the tell-tale signs of a dead atty? It's day 6 of my vaping, should I clean the atty(s)now?Im using one 75% of the time, the other 25%.What do I use to clean them??That's the main question. Is a dry atty worse than a flooded one??Im so losttt.
Thanks

Hi Austin,

Your concerns are well founded for some like myself. I have over 400 atomizers in reserve as I will never go back to analogs. After over a year, the smell of them is repulsive to me let alone taking a drag off of one.

Furthermore it is not like you can run down and grab a "pack of atomizers" at the nearest 7-11 anytime soon.

Some atomizers simply go cold devoid any warning. Others repeated get hot but do not produce vapor becasue the nickel mesh loses its ability over time to wick the e-liquid.

Another misconception with atomizers is that they can appear to have burned out when in fact they really are still in good working condition but the middle peg that connects to the battery depresses and does not make a solid connection to fire off the battery.

Other atomizers will fail to work because they are fooded around their coil with e-liquid and need to be blown out and drained.

Another major factor in atomizer failure is when the battery or passthough switch sticks on and burns the coil out without the user even knowing it is happening.

So some atomizers are duds out of the box, while others will last a week, and others will last for a long time. The only thing that is for sure is that they all will eventually fail.

As for cleaning, some do nothing in this area, while others swear by it. Many rotate their atomizers daily or thoughout the day. A lot of people drain them overnight.

For me, the one thing I have learned is to keep that coil and mesh wet with e-liquid at all times.

If you like, go over to the Experimenting with Equitment section to see some extreme methods employed on an experimental bases to salvage atomizers and maximize longevity. A lot of use have done extensive work in this area.

Upon experimenting with over 50 dismantled atomizers, I can readily conclude that the residual build up on the coil will eventually thicken to the point that it actually lifts the atomizer coil up and staps one of the two lead contact points. Most cleaning methods simply will not get rid of this hard residual build up an ruins the nickel mesh.

I hope that helps.
