But no one will be making political hay out of this one:

iPhone Explosion Leaves Cyclist with Third-Degree Burns

If it's not vaping related the FDA wants nothing to do with it. Yeah, it's a phone, but they decided my batteries mesh and kanthal are tobacco so what something really is never stood in their way before. Perhaps they could blame this on an e-juice calculator app on the iPhone...

I bet dollars to donuts it was an iPhone 6 instead of an earlier version.
IPhone 6 when they went ultra thin, and thin aluminium housing

The same way they worry about ecigs causing fires on flights yet the last in air fire I'm aware of was caused by an iphone 6. Not a peep about banning phones on flights after that one.I guess a fire caused by a phone is somehow safer than one caused by an ecig. SMH

You can take ecigs in your carry on so they aren't "banned" at all.

Anyway, carry on with your false arguments.

I'm well aware you can take them as carry ons. I've done that many times myself. But they are "banned" from use. And they certainly have brought up banning e-cigs as carry on items and fears of battery explosions and fires were a concern mentioned.

Should E-Cigarettes Even Be Allowed on Planes?.

Vaping is banned in public places not because of battery safety concerns.

They have tried/are trying(I'm not sure where that bill is or if it's dead) to amend a bill that would prohibit e-cigs in carry on luggage due to concerns over explosions and fire(not use) even though laptops and cell phones have caused far more fires.

The deeming regulations have absolutely nothing to do with battery safety. In fact, I don't think there's a single mention about it in the entire document. So the specious reasoning that cell phone issues should be somehow tied in with the deeming regulations is just that.

Vapers haven’t been able to cloud chase in the middle of a cross-country flight for years, thanks to airline policies banning vaping on board. But if a new senate amendment is approved, vapers won’t even be able to bring their devices onboard a plane in the first place.
