Atomizer is Making All My Batteries Think That They're Dead!?!

So Friday I went to the mall and got my dead atomizer replaced for free, and the new one was working great, but then I started having problems with my passthrough, it was reaching the cutoff as soon as I would inhale. I thought it was the passthrough because it was working fine with my batteries, but I decided to clean the atomizer under hot water last night anyway. Today when I woke up I started puffing on my e-cig to get it going again, and after a few puffs the the LED indicated that the battery was dead, so I tried another battery, and the LED started flashing telling me that that one was dead, and the same thing happened on the third one, even though I had just fully charged two out of three of these batteries last night. I sucked on the batteries without the atomizer on and they light up fine with no blinking. I have no other atomizers, although one should be on it's way any day now, but there has to be some kind of way to fix this. Can someone tell me what the hell is going on here? And please tell me I can fix this. I tried cleaning the connections with a wire brush, I even tried leaving it in my drawer with my lucky batman trading card from first grade, but nothing is working! Please help me. :( This is an RN4081

D--Sounds like a bad charger to me and not the atomizers--there is nothing the atomizer can do to cause the batteries to die--remember the switch and controls are all in the battery so the battery dictates what happens ---not the atomizer---Sun

The batteries work fine if I just puff on them alone, no blinking or anything. And I'm having problems with this atomizer on my passthrough too. Plus if I use one of my dead atomizers I don't get the blinking either, so it's definitely the atomizer.

Just a shot in the dark....U have a short in your atomizer. Test it with a multimeter.

Wow, that seems so obvious now that you say it, I have no idea why I didn't think of that. I'm hoping now that maybe there's just some water stuck in my atomizer somewhere causing the short and that it will work again once it dries out. Where do I touch the positive needle and the negative needle to?

EDIT: Also, I don't know much about electronics, I have a multimeter for working on my car, but is there a chance that I screwed up my batteries by using the atomizer with each one if there is indeed a short?

Wow, that seems so obvious now that you sayt some water stuck in my atomizer somewhere causing the short and that it will work again once it dries out. Where do I touch the positive needle and the negative needle to?

I don't know the design of your atty, but I would say the center "pin" of the atomizer and the outside rim (threaded area)...I don't know off hand what the resistance should be, so maybe someone else can pipe up.

Possible...but not likely. The integrated circuit (chip) that controls the battery "should have" detected the short. That could be why when you use it the LED flashes...could be flashing to say "I have a problem here!" as to saying "Charge me dumb-...!" :D (no...i'm not calling you a dumb-...)

try a new battery.. your old one might really be dead.. puffing puts no load on them.. an atomzer puts about a 1 amp load on them... this is one hell of a lot for a 150 mah battery..

too much which is why they wear out as quickly as they do...

I tried 3 different batteries, all of which were working fine yesterday. Two of them are a month old and one of them is 2 weeks old. And this atomizer is also causing problems with my USB passthrough.

Try this. Get a small pair of needle nose plyers that will fit in the battery end of the atomizer and pull very gently[/] on the center battery contact. It's possible it's not making connection with the battery. Just twist and pull at the same time a tiny bit with the plyers so the contact will stick out a bit more. See if that helps.

I pulled it out so it was flush with the out ring (where the screw threads are) but still nothing. And when I took it out it had been pushed back down, so it's definitely making contact.

Edit: GREAT SCOTTS I GOT IT! I pulled the bridge of the atomizer up a little bit with the needle nose pliers, and now it's working! When I washed it last night the pressure of the water from the faucet must have pushed that section down, causing it to come in contact with another piece of metal, causing a short. Houdini, your suggestion indirectly led me to fixing my atomizer, so thank you. I love you man!

Edit 2: NOOOOOOO! It stopped working! Its gone back to flashing again :( .... my life

Did you test with a multimeter?

Yeah, I don't remember what the reading was exactly, maybe 1000 ohms. I was waiting for someone to tell me what it's supposed to be or what it is with a working atomizer of their's.

Trog, I don't have another atomizer to try, that's the problem, otherwise I wouldn't care about trying to fix this, but I won't have a new atomizer for another week or so.

how long they last depends on two things..

the first one is how many puffs they get in a given time..

the second i how well people need them to work..

we chuck ours every two weeks.. or about 5000 puffs.. but we do need them to keep working like new..

but they should be treated as semi disposable items and spares should be bought in advance..

once people do this their frustrations go away even if their running cost go up.. taker yer pick..
