sorry to intrude with a bit of an off topic question,
but does any one of you have any info about this:
EVOLV - Home
a box mod by evolv?
why not dna75c?
why not 18650 battery?
if i remember right, the guy from evolv told phil about some kind of surprise coming soon, maybe when he'll go visit the new facility, maybe that's it?

Evolv introduced the Custom mod under the deeming rules so they have option to produce them in the future. They really do not want to compete with their business customer producing mods though. They have accepted orders but it is not a priority focus for them. I know someone who ordered many months ago who still has not received his but is fine with waiting, but it is unknown when they will begin a major production effort.

Modcrate put these pics up on their facebook page, but they are not yet up on their site so it must be a production sample.

510 is not threaded so it looks like an early Pre-production sample. They usually are a DIY supply & don't sell finished mods but will usually sell complete kits you just have to solder & screw together.

Protovapor will usually sell both the the case & finished mod after prototyping & anodizing is complete.

Given the color version(s) requires additional button cutouts and a change in screen size, I'm not sure where the issue of a 250c board becoming "too large". The 75c is essentially the same width as a 75 although it is a bit longer to accommodate the extra middle button. Calling the 75c an "upgrade" from a DNA 60 isn't terribly accurate. A DNA 60 doesn't have the same button configuration and has a screen mounted separately from the main board. While TC might be similar from an electronic regulation perspective and both support 18650 batteries, that's about all they have in common. I expect a 250c to have similar design requirements for an additional button cutout and larger screen, but fail to see how that would translate into a wider board.

It was Branden himself on the Busardo introduction to the DNA75C video who said that the DNA75C at its core was essentially an up wattaged DNA60 with faster processing, expanded memory, & expanded display circuitry. I took that to mean that these upgrades used quite a bit of space on he board to incorporate them. By its nature & design, the existing DNA250 is not exactly long on unused board space. I certainly never said a larger board would be necessary, merely that by comparison to Branden's characterization of the 75C that task would be considerably more challenging & time consuming to accomplish to reach full production. Supposedly it was designed & prototyped & sold prior to 8/8, but required development of new component production assembly requiring significant lead times.

That's fair, and if that was what Brandon said, I will call my bad on my post. I imagine that the redesign of the DNA 60 may have been closer to what was needed than simply starting from scratch with a DNA 75 board.
