Hi there. This is about my 4th question about cartomizers. Sorry about that.

I use (for now) the smok XXXL cartomizer because it can hold so much fluid. I recently got an ego battery. Not an ego cigarette just the battery.

When I ordered a smok XXXL cartomizer I ordered the ego version. Will it fit or should I have gotten the 510 version? I have asked the seller and he keeps skirting my question. I don't have all the pieces of an ego cig. Just the battery. I am just wondering if I ordered the wrong version.

Thanks.
Doug

i'll tell you this much. i don't believe that battery will be strong enough to provide the voltage needed to take full advantage of the carto's capability. more volts = more watts = more taste = more vapor.
i put a smok carto on an ego battery i have and it's just not even close as to what my provari does.

Welcome , but if you ordered , or have an Ego type battery , then it should fit , the 510 version , will fit as well , but will need a collar , to look good . The only thing I can think of right off is , If it is a dual coil device , it tends to sap the battery power about twice as fast as a standard cartomizer / clearomizer . Other than that it should work . Might want to get someting in a low resistance , and only a single coil , so your batteries will last longer between charging . Good Luck

you might want to think about using a smaller tank for a little while untill you get used to cartos. if, and when you blow a carto. and you will. it can easily flood and dump all that juice. so unless you have a syringe handy, you just made a big mess and lost juice. it's happened to all of us. still happens sometimes. your battery will work. it's like trying to burn burn pump gas in an alcohol engine. it'll work, just won't be all it can be.

I HAVE been using dual coil devices. Thanks for explaining why the baterry dies relatively quickly. I bought a carto tank that should arrive this weeek. Maybe that will be bbetter. The problem when you don't know what you are doing is that you spend a fortune experimenting.

This is incorrect. If more power automatically translates to better vapor and taste, people would be vaping with car batteries right now. How much power to use depends entirely on your juice transfer medium and the juice itself. Generally, you dont want to run your carto above around 8 watts. EGo batteries are entirely capable of that power level.

Also, dual coil or single coil makes little to no difference in how fast it drains your battery. As long as overall resistance is the same, then at the same voltage, your battery will put out the same power. The idea of using dual coil is to increase heating surface, NOT to increase power output.

Interesting that you would say "skirting" the question, because I think that is the key point. If you look at pictures of the Smoktech Mega Dual Coil cartomizer and the Smoktech Ego Mega Dual Coil cartomizer side by side, the only difference is the the skirt in the Ego version that extends over the screwed post connection. This will cover the exposed threads on your Ego battery and provide a more finished look. I have used the EMDCC on my Ego battery without problems.

I used skirting because if they had said what you did, I wouldn't worry. Instead they said I would have to buy an additional adapter. All I needed was a yes or no answer. Since they haven't shipped yet and since they are the same price, i asked they swap the order if the answer was no. But I never got my question answered.

I am using a smok right now and am not getting air flow. It is driving me crazy.

my smok tek needs the thred adapter to connect to my provari. that's why i use the collar.
you may have it tightened down too tight.
i had a vivi nova knock off, and when i screwed on it cut off air flow.
the real nova has an extra thread that makes it seat leaving room for air flow.
sounds like you're having about the same issue.
the adapter should cure that.
or find a store that sells tanks, try one on and test the air flow.
it's all trail and error getting your best setup.
unless you go with something that's already been replicated by others and a known fact to work correctly.
ie. provari + vivi nova = no adapter = works
provari + smok tek + adapter + collar = works. i hate having to use the adapter though.
anyway you get the idea.
