I know, I know...there are no "dumb" questions, but I feel somewhat idiotic because I literally know little to almost nothing about this actual process except what I've read and watched, and there's only so much learning you can do without actually being hands-on.

Anywhoooooo.

Our evods should be here by tomorrow (slight chance today). I understand you give the battery button 5 clicks to turn it on and 5 clicks to turn it off. So after you turn it on, you then hold the button and puff, and release, right? And the battery stays on until you 5 click it again to turn it off. Is there any indication that it's off or on? Other than trying to take a vape and it does nothing?

Told you it was dumb. LOL.

Pretty straight forward. To turn it on, click it 5 times fast and the light ring around the button will light up blue. To vape, hold the button down and inhale, release when you're done. You'll know when it's on, since the light around the button comes on while it is being used. To turn it off, 5 quick clicks and the light blinks again letting you know that you locked it. As daleron stated, nothing will happen when you press the button in locked mode.

Nope, NOT a dumb question. Lots of us couldn't figure out "why my brand new ego battery won't work" the first time. And yeah, I would always ensure to turn it off when not using it, even taking a second to ensure it's off. I have a different brand, so after the five clicks, it flashes several times to say it's either turning on or off, so, yeah it's confusing. Just press and take a puff to make sure it's off. No solid light coming on and no vapor? It's off.

It sounds like a lot, but really, it will be second nature and you'll see what we're talking about once you get it in your hands to play with.

Not a dumb question at all!
Knowing *how* is only part of the equation, there's also *why* and *when* to use the on/off feature. Turning your battery off prevents it from firing accidentally, like when you're carrying it in your pocket or in a bag. It's also very useful to turn it off when you're cleaning it - wiping off fingerprints, dirt or leaked juice.

Since I don't want to assume anything, 'cuz you know what that does, LOL. When it's off, the battery isn't discharging at all, correct? So one could expect it to last longer? The Evod kit comes with the 650 (?) batteries so from what I understand those should last about 6 hours or so until needing recharge? Is that 6 hours of use or 6 hours regardless of off/on/vaping status?

The batteries won't discharge unless you're using it. The 6 hour thing is an estimate of total use time for about a pack a day smoker.

In other words, If you leave the house at 7am, and vape about as often as you would smoke, you'll be good till about 1pm before you need to charge the battery or change to a charged one. You may experience more, or you may experience less. Personally, I used to get about a full 10 hour work day out of a 650mah battery like that.

The more you use it, the faster your going to have to charge it. The lower the resistance on the coil heads that you use, the faster you have to charge it, but the vapor will be warmer and fuller.

Hope this helps.

I started with an ego kit, and had the same thoughts/questions as you did. It never hurts to ask, is my motto.:)

Since I'm retired and mostly at home, I just left mine on and used it. When I went on errands in the car, I also left in on, since I was vaping in the car, too. The button on mine is a little recessed, so I didn't worry about it firing accidentally.

I got about 5 to 6 hours before needing to charge it. Since I had a pair, there was always one waiting to be used.

Congrats on your success and for doing this good thing for yourself!:)

I never turn mine off, but then again I don't put mine in a purse either. (My wife would not think highly of me if I started to carry a purse).

My point is, turning it off is something you only need to worry about if you're putting your ecig someplace where it's likely the button will be accidentally pressed. You don't NEED to turn it off, it doesn't hurt anything by leaving it on 24/7. It doesn't wear down the charge any faster if you leave it on. The ONLY reason to turn it off is to prevent accidental firing if you're putting it someplace where it might get squished and the button accidentally pressed.
