Over the last few weeks I have spend far too much time online watching people raving about e juice, far far to much money buying loads of designer juice and far too much time being disappointed :(

i have tried every thing from from alien vision, juicy vapour, rawr and Alice in vapeland, very few have really hit the spot.

in these reviews am told about the complex flavours, depth and changing tastes of these wonderful 'Jesus ' juices

What I really want to know is can these people really taste all these complex favours ? An undertone of cherry, carefully balanced with a hint of watermelon on the inhale on the exit they taste, cream and nuts ....

can an e juice really have these qualities... Are my taste buds faulty ? I get one flavour from a juice, orange and banana combine to make one taste, which I either like or dislike....

I really feel after all these juices that I have now discovered that juices really do have a limit and despite what these reviews tell us, there is only so much you can do with vg/pg and its fairly limited

Do you agree or disagree ? Go on give me both barrels

I guess it's a question of connoisseurship - I've never really gotten the hang of wine sniffing, rinsing and spitting. FOr me its more "Eeewwwww", "Fill 'er up, John" "Can I buy 12 bottles of this" etc. On the other hand, there are people who have a refined sense of taste and smell - not something ongoing smokers or just recently quit smokers are renowned for admittedly. Perhaps as you vape more and get your sense of taste/smell back, you'll note other flavours coming to the forefront. Also lots of juices need to steep, so what you taste in week 1 may not completely do justice to the juice. Have another try in week 4 - just don't toss any of them out yet, (unless you get nightmares from even the aroma of them around the house of course).

I felt that way the first few months off analogs. Now I can pick the different flavors out of even 4 or 5 flavor complex recipes. I can taste the difference in a juice from day 2 of a steep to day 5 and so on. I was getting really frustrated until one day everything just came together. I hope that happens for you soon.

Any wine sommelier will tell you that no matter how expensive, how cheap, how old, how new, how layered, or how simple a wine is, if you like it, it's good wine. That can apply to chateauneuf du pape, or Beringer white zin.

That's not saying a wine sommelier isn't damn good at what they do... some people got it, some don't. I worked in fine dining for five years, and every month our dinner menu and our wine selection changed. Every month I'd have to sit down with free food, and up to eight glasses of wine, and try all of them. Some people there could talk about the "terroir" and the earthy notes of mushroom and exotic wood, the buttery aftertaste of a chardonnay, or the spice and pepper of a shiraz, and I'd be sitting there like, "What the hell are these people talking about? It tastes nasty to me!"

I think you might be setting yourself up for disappointment. It most certainly doesn't become Jesus Juice. We go through a ton of vendors, flavors, PG/VG mixes, extra flavor shots, sweetnings, until we find the juices we like. I've been through way more flavors I didn't like than I did with my all time favorite juice vendors... But when I did, I was very happy and satisfied.

I can only get about two flavors out of a juice. If it has more complexity than that.....I will probably not understand it. I go by 'Yummmmmmmmy' or 'blech!'. I do know what you mean, I'm so jealous of those that can 'get' the juice. I sit here scratching my head saying 'I wanna play!!!'. Oh, but that doesn't stop me from tasting the nasty base when a juice still needs more steeping!

I feel your pain...... TOTALLY!!!

Yes, but how is the orange? Is it sweet, tart, citrusy? Candy-like or realistic? Subtle or overwhelming? More like a tangerine? Too sweet, too sour? Try thinking about descriptive words like that when you vape and try to describe it to yourself. If you like it is it because it's sweet and not to citrusy? If you dislike it is it because it's too sour or too candy-like?

Yes, and so can you! It takes practice, but it makes tasting flavors more enjoyable. For complex juices, I can never pick out all the flavors at once, especially the subtle ones, but I can start picking out the notes by focusing on different aspects of the flavor during multiple vapes. After you get to know and understand the layers involved, it makes enjoying the taste as a whole more complete.

Sometimes a juice is okay to me, until I start picking up on a note I love but have missed, and it becomes a new juice to me. Taste buds are tricky, and often I'll taste what may not even be in there, but that's okay too because how it tastes to me is the main factor in my enjoyment.

thanks for this post mate. it really made me laugh.
anyways, i DIY liquids and i can guarantee that you can taste and feel all the differences. it depends however on the flavors used. really strong flavors or too much of one flavor can mute everything else. but generally you can taste and smell the different flavors.

TBH, I don't get some of the complex changing flavors with some juice either that others describe. For the most part, the taste is the same for me. In my line-up, Bobas Bounty and White Rabbit are 2 flavors that are supposed to be "different everytime" but I get the same taste for the most part. The only times I get obvious taste differences are due to longer steep times (different taste) and when I bump up the volts (same taste that is stronger). But generally, the juice still tastes the same to me. I don't get a different taste unless I chain vape and/or my tastes buds get used to a flavor or get fried.

1st it takes a while for your taste buds to come back. It could take up to a year or 7 if you go on the age old saying (that has truth to it) "every 7 years every cell in our body has been replaced and we are completely new".

2nd it is said again and again "tastes are subjective". And they are. Just because there are many who love a juice does not mean that you will automatically love the juice or even like it. Case in point Gandalf (Legend) HHV has a huge following of die hard fans. I thought it was just good/okay and my husband HATED it. The smell of it even bothered him. So much so that I will not buy it again.

3rd what kind of taste buds do you have? Others have touched on this one too. Were you a super taster before able to pick out the complexities to wine, sauces, teas, chocolate or any artisan food/ drink? I have noticed that I have similar tastes to those that are more of the super taster type of pallet. Who also tend to be foodie/ cooks. But there are others who naturally have less of a complex pallet. These people would be easily pleased by Olive garden or mcdonalds. Not that this is a bad thing at all. Just different. So maybe they complex juices do not come across as they are ment to to the less complex pallet. Maybe they read a little muddy and weird. Or just as a combo of 2 tastes like you (op) said.

This is the wonderful world that is vaping. and juice is like art. :) Do you like punk or classical? Country or Rap? Juice is that different too. And taste IS subjective, juice like it is in music.

There is something I've come to learn about savory things, fine dining, synergy of flavors, and the lingering aftertastes... We all have taste bud receptors. Usually they respond to salt, sour, bitter, and sweet, but there is a fifth super taste bud, called umami, It detects rich, savory things. It's not any specific taste bud receptor, it's like an amalgam or conjunction of all four, creating something "savory". It's hard to pin point and very hard to nail down. It can be compared to religious faith. You just know it when you experience it. A lot of vapers are discovering their hidden umami receptors.

Tough gig, but I suppose someone has to do it. ;)

LOL... It wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Fine dining can be... icky... at times. Chefs try to be creative and all. Fish and garbanzo beans = straight 100% undiluted puke to me. Add some tannic-y, heavy-bodied red wines... We're talking vomit casserole right there. And fennel. Oh my gad I could live the rest of my life and never taste fennel again...
