Another Mod

Hello everyone, it has been 6 weeks since I smoked a cigarette and started vaping. My health is improving already and I am setting down emotionally .
I was at a vape shop and a very knowledgeable employee suggested that it would be wise for me to invest in another Mod. I am currently using a smok R80 with a nautilus mini tank.( I have pen style vapes for backup ). He suggested that my next Mod have removable batteries . They currently have a Smoant Battlestar Mod in stock. Some feedback on built in batteries verses removable batteries and whether the Battlestar Mod is worth while would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I know nothing about the Battlestar Mod -- but it sure is a nice looking piece of equipment! Hopefully someone will come along and have some answers for you.

Regarding removable batteries -- both my mods (a Kangertech Subox and a Smok Alien) have removable batteries. I looked for this up front when buying my first mod (the Kangertech) because I wanted to be able to swap batteries if one ran low during the day or such. I find it handy to keep extra charged batteries with me in a plastic case, rather than have to plug in a mod to recharge -- and being deprived of a vape during that time.

Gratz on the 6 week milestone!

The R80 is a fine device... an update of the not-so-fine M80. If you're liking that form factor, the Smok R200 is nearly identical in shape and size, but runs on 2 x 18650s. I have the M80 and the R200.

The Battlestar is also a decent device. Smoant is, I believe, a division of Cloupor, and they've been putting out some decent mods. I do not have the Battlestar, but I do have the Knight V1, and to call it solid is an understatement!

But, I digress... get what ever you're comfortable with and can afford. Remember that if you get a Battlestar or the like, you're also going to be investing in batteries, and a charger of some sort. I would imagine that this will all come in good time, regardless, but for now a second internal battery device (the eVic VTWO or the Eleaf Ipower are both on par with the R80 if you want to look at other brands) might fit your lifestyle and budget better.

Alternately, a single 18650 or 26650 with on board charging (dual battery mods can sometimes be charged with an on board charger, but it's never recommended) might be in order. The iStick Pico is outstanding as is the eVic VTWO Mini. They top out at 75 watts... a bit less than your R80... but if you stick with the Nautilus and vaping at less than 20 watts, that shouldn't be an issue.

Howdy!
If I knew what I know now when I started in 2012. When my son was making box mods with variable voltage and selling them. I stayed with my mechanical mods. I would go with a variable voltage like a Joyetech Cuboid. The reason I say that is because in a few months you are going buy an RDA. Then you are going to need something with more power. Being an American you are going to have to have MORE POWER! ARRUG!

I don't know anything about the Battlestar but if you do choose to get another Mod that takes 18650 batteries only buy authentic batteries from reliable sources. Stick with Authentic Sony, Samsung or LG don't put yourself at risk with pipe bomb trash batteries like eFest, Imren, etc. Go to Mooch's blog here are ECF and only buy his recommended batteries.

Good reputable sources of batteries are Liion Wholesale or IMR Batteries, that's where I get all of mine from. Again stay away from the pipe bombs like eFest.

The Battlestar is certainly a looker!
The bronze blue, the dark red and the copper tone are awesome.
For some reason, the yellow ones got lots of attention & reviews.... more for the extrovert vaper.
I had a dark red mod and got bored of the sight of it, so I'm going for the bronze blue most probably.

That is not to suggest that EFest are the beez kneez but as long as they are real efest they are solid.

Should also note i do not intend on purchasing New EFest batteries i just have so many in rotation (16) that i havent had to buy new ones for quite some time my next purchase is going to be Samsung INR's i was actually planning on buying 4 to start rotating them in the mix.

Not 18650's, this is due to 18350's and 26650's the big 5 don't make them any longer. So with 18350's and 26650's it's still a crap shoot, thus the need to always be up to date with his recommended list.

As for eFest, their advertised 40a purples are only 10a batteries. That is the definition of a pipe bomb crap battery from a malicious company.

Efest cells are rewraps (duh) & you just don't know what exactly you're getting from purchase to purchase..

I can't agree that built in battery can be more efficient regarding any style of vaping. Removable batteries are better anyway.

Batteries die and sometimes prematurely. Makes no sense to me to throw away a perfectly good mod just because the battery stopped working. Also it is difficult to find a decent capacity built in.

I think the Battlestar is fairly new which is why you aren't getting to many folks saying they have one.

It's the coil mass that matters though, not resistance in itself. You could build a higher resistance coil with thick wire that would require more power than a lower resistance coil using the same wire.

The problem with Efests and other rewraps is not only that they're dangerously overrated, it's that they could change the battery under the wrapper at any time. Thus what is now a 10 amp battery could be a 5 amp battery if you buy it next month.

Or most likely in the case with these crap eFest purple's, were a 15a battery before the next batch are now a 10a. What next, 7a?

Best to be safe and get Authentic LG, Samsung or Sony's from reputable sources for most times cheaper than the crap from the likes of eFest.
