Hey guys,

I've been reading these forums for the past few hours and I'm convinced I should get me an e-cig. I'm 26, been smoking since the day before highschool began, and.. it's time to stop the madness. Especially with cigarette prices in NY averaging about $7.60

I've been smoking a pack or two per day for the last couple years.. in the past 5 days I stopped smoking regular cigarettes and (probably worse for me) changed to Djarum clove cigarillos. I believe they've got more crap and nicotine levels, but they only come 12 to a pack.. and I can keep to 1 pack of these a day. They burn longer, hit harder, and sometimes I'll get fed-up with them and put 'em out half-way.

ALL THAT BEING SAID:

I was very interested in the GreenSmoke, but after reading, the 510's seem to be the most popular. I'm not typically one to go for "what's popular" but I figured if I'm going to dive into something totally foreign to me, why not choose what seems to have the largest community to help me along the way? That and the $35 price from cignot.

My question here is:

If I'm going to jump into this, I don't want to be running out of supplies a week or 2 down the road.

To supply myself for a month, what else should I buy? Liquids? Refills? Polyfil? etc etc. Should I hop on over to HealthCabin for supplies? I figure you guys know where the deals are, what can get me on the road quickest with this stuff! I know buying the liquid would help me cut costs and refill them myself, but maybe I should buy some already filled cartrides too? I don't want to have to play around for 10 minutes with fibers and liquid all the time-- in the beginning I'd like it to be kinda simple, and then start messing with all the intricacies. I think that sounds reasonable, do you?

If someone can suggest a shopping list or help me out here, I'd be very appreciative. My budget at the moment is about $80

Marlboro flavors sound good enough to me, never been fascinated with strawberry or vanilla or whatnot in a cigarette. (go figure now im smoking CLOVES)

thanks!

-Pete

I would go to Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. and get a white box 510 for $35 and some liquid and a couple atomizers and you should be set for a while and maybe a PCC for carrying and charging batteries. There ship time and service is excellent and I get stuff from them in 2 days and In NY also.

Okay.. so I'm still working up the list to double check everything. (more so that I understand what works together)

Right now, there's the $35 kit

Then I went for the PG Marlboro USA Mix 26mg 5ml liquid. --

I hear the PG hits harder than VG. Do I care? in the beginning? I'd imagine a real cigarette hits harder than PG or VG so... for now I think it's okay, right?

Extended life battery (I keep reading people have issues with the batteries on 510's?)

3 spare atomizers.

Now, will I need poly-fill and empty carts? (readily available at Michael's Art Supplies locally)? I'd imagine I'll be able to refill the included cartridges for some small extent?

Thanks for the info!

Pete,
Your choice of a Joye510 to start with is absolutely solid! -- Your choice of placing your first order with Vicky up at Cignot is, in my opinion, worthy of several high-fives!!

I also started with the J510 no-box kit from cignot. Based on my own experience, I can't hardly imagine a better move that that! -- In fact, within a day or two of it having arrived ... I ordered several more kits from Vicky just to pass them out to family & close friends (all heavy smokers).

Just fyi: ... It's been about 4 months now & I've yet to see any of the original atty's go belly-up on anyone. Maybe it's just dumb luck but I can't complain. -- So yes I agree, it's a good idea to have an extra back-up atty on hand (maybe even an extra battery) ...just in case! But I wouldn't worry too much about it for the relatively near-term.

If your early intro to vaping is anything at all like what mine happened to be (very, very positive!)... Then don't be surprised if, before long...you find yourself inventing silly excuses for ordering additional juices or maybe another (possibly different) e-cig or two - just for the heck of it! :p

It's been a few months now for me... So I've managed to acquire several different PV's along with a (ridiculous:oops:) selection of juices at this point.
But I still carry along my trusty J510s wherever I go. They're no longer my primary PVs... but I wouldn't give 'em up for anything or anyone!:grr:

cheers mi amigo!

I can't offer any input on the 510's, since I've never tried them, but everything I've heard about them is great. I've used 801's, 901's, and the Janty Stick. Out of those, my favorite is the Stick by far (using the V3 right now). It's a little pricey to start with ($80 with shipping), but it's a great device. If you're looking to get in cheap, I'd say go with the 510 though.

As far as supplies, you'll want at least 2 atomizers (1 for backup), and a 30ml-50ml bottle of some liquid. That should keep you in stock for at least a month.

Pete... I apologize! --
Looking back...I didn't really address your questions very well!

I would also echo Cicatrize's advice for ordering at least 20ml to 30ml of juice in your initial order. Cignot offers a variety of small 5ml bottles just for the purpose of 'sampling' different ones without breaking the bank. Everyone has different tastes... so you'll just have to try different flavors to find out what blows your skirt up...and what doesn't. Just no other way to do it that I know of.

Flavor suggestions from others are fine & dandy... but there's no guarantee you'll agree with the next person's choices. So having said that, I'll go ahead and suggest RY4, DK-Tab, and 555 as ones to be sure to include in your order. I'm especially fond of these myself. For my tastes..they're good either alone or mixed together in a variety of ways.

PG vs. VG based juices- ??
Knowing (in advance) what you'll eventually wind up preferring in the way of base-solutions is a tough one. I'd just have to suggest taking a balanced swipe at it. In other words get some of each. I like to mix them at about 60%PG / 40%VG. But that's just me!

Finally, a PCC is a great supporting peripheral addition. However, although some folks find them indispensable...others might find them unnecessary. I never acquired one, nor ever seemed to need it myself. - If your initial budget is an issue... I'd say put more priority on attys, batts, & juices for sure!

cheers,
fisch

Ok..about carts & filler! --

You'll prolly be fine with the 5 carts that come with the 510 kit.
What I mean is that a single cart can be refilled with juice & filler over&over again almost indefinitely! -- I think I'm still using the very first two I started with. If you wanna' get another pak of 5 just for grins..fine. But I doubt you'll really wind up needing 'em.

As for cart-filler material (?) -- The factory polyfill stuff isn't something I'm very fond of personally. As you may have already read, other materials have been tried which are significantly better. -- I can wholeheartedly recommend the 100% pure natural wool alternative. It's all I use in every one of my carts regardless of PV model! -- I found a package of pure-wool at Michael's for around a couple bucks. It's a relatively small package but there's enough wool in it to last anyone a year or two. -- Check out the 'Cart-Modding' threads if you haven't already. Others have come up with dozens of different alternatives to use.

cheers,
fisch

Hey Fisch; Cica:

Thanks for the responses.

I did read about people preferring one filler to another, and I guess I'll just have to toy around with those in the future, just like the flavors.

I think I missed your post by a few minutes, otherwise I would've tried one of those other liquids. I went with something that seemed like it would be good.. the Joye-Marlb 24mg 20ml and PG Kent 26mg 20ml.

I got the no-box limited qty $35 kit with a purple manual and blue manual batteries. Also got the Car DC to Regular 510 charger.

I thought that since I get 2 atomizers and batteries, I might as well try my luck before ordering other atomizers and batteries. Then I really liked the PCC and the USB idea, in theory... but if I'm near a USB port, I'm also near an electrical outlet. If I'm Not near an electrical outlet, I'm going to be near a 12v vehicle outlet.

I am kind of tight on the initial budget, only because I recently opened a new checking account at Capital One and they hold all my checks for the first 30 days for 9-business days to clear. EVEN THO ONE OF THE CHECKS COMES FROM THE SAME BRANCH!!!!

lol. so once my money starts flowing again and my 30 day probationary-whatever is up at this bank.... (I hate banks) -- I'll be more free to try some of the liquids you recommended, and all the other things that sound pretty cool down the line.

As for PG/VG.. I'm pretty impatient so.. I thought whichever was more easily soluble (pg is thinner, right?) would be a good choice for the 1st round. Although I'd imagine, of course, some thickness has its benefits.

If I made any errors in the statements I made, someone let me know, I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about... but sometimes I don't! lol, so corrected me if and when possible.

Thanks again guys!

That sounds like a good starter kit. As far as the VG/PG comparison, yes, PG is a little thinner, and for this reason, I actually never have even tried VG. Also, PG tends to be a little sweeter and since it's thinner, theoretically, it shouldn't clog up your atty too bad. But, again, I have no idea, since I've never tried VG and this is just speculation.

The thing with USB is just convenience. Not having to bend over to reach an electrical outlet is nice. Some people are even lazier than that, though...like myself. One of the reasons I like the stick is because the unit has a USB port built in, so I can charge whenever, wherever, without removing the atomizer. Great feature for lazy people. :D

You can also get a couple Pyramid Tea bag Mods right from Cignot as well and they work well too. I dont like to use any of the fillers in my cart but find either the PTB or Blue Foam with small piece of regular filler material on top works bedt for me. Everyone has there own opinions and tastes just like juice. Also tobacco flavors are a thing thats hit and miss cause none have really tasted like real tobacco to me. The VG is actually sweeter then the PG. You can reuse carts over and over I just use distilled water to clean them out and the material also. As for the polyfill make sure you never use a flame ......ent one as it has chemicals in it that are no good to vape. Hope all this info helps.

Sooooooooooo as some of you may have seen, I did make my order from CigNot.

I ordered in the afternoon of 1/19 and the goods arrived here in NY on 1/21.
I'm very happy with everything.. except for my lack of open-mindedness for trying a "flavor".. Why didn't it occur to me that if I wanted to get away from cigs I should get an e-liquid that does NOT taste like a cigarette? Haha.. well.. I'll be getting some flavored e-liquid next week. I want to try RY4 and some others.

I started vaping last night.. and I haven't had a cigarette since. I keep waiting for this.. "strong desire for an analog" to come across me.. and sometimes I pause trying to make myself want one.. but nothing's happening? lol. I dunno where the hell the urge went, but it's just not there. Maybe if I get involved in something high-stress it'll come over me.. but it's gone for the moment.

I'm happy. I even vaped in my Dentist's office today. He's happy I quit, he's been breaking my balls about it for years. (I've known him since I was in 3rd grade). lol the Dental Assistant was like "I cant believe u just did that in here" and I was like.. "relax, its just vapor" and then she went all "Whaa?" -- she smokes.. maybe i can turn her on to these.

Anyway, thats my story!

+1 on the Janty Stick... I love mine and it's great for sitting at the computer!
