Another newbie to vaping!

Well... I started out with the eGo and Protank mini 2. I love the Protank, looking at some tanks and batteries though. I'm looking into the Aspire Nautilus, Kanger Aerotech and then possibly a vision Spinner v2. I'm still learning and trying to figure out my best bet.

Ive only been a true smoker for the past 5 years and the day I started vaping I didn't smoke ONE cigarette! So it's definitely working for me.

Howdy Puck! Glad to have you here at the ECF.

For a beginner, the Nautilus is definitely a no-fuss way to go. The airflow is a WORLD of improvement over the ProTank (both the original, 2, 3, and AeroTank can't compare to the Nautilus in terms of airflow). It's a really nice vape.

Also the Vision Spinner 2's are really nice-looking, though I can't speak for the performance. I definitely recommend getting a VV/VW device to cut some of the hassle that's involved in buying something that you wanna replace within the week. The variability in voltage will mean that you can try out different resistances and tweak your voltage to match what feels like a good vape to you, personally.

Either way, welcome to ECF. Help yourself to the wealth of information, and uh.. Don't feed the trolls. Heh.

I'm more partial to the full-sized version, just because I don't have to refill when I'm out and about all day. I have 3 Vision spinners so far (and my wide has 1) and an Eleaf IStick, which I just love. I'm sure you'll find lots of shiny stuff around here to expand your collection, sooner or later... Have fun looking around!

Someone just told me about the Eleaf iStick and i dont know if I want the box size yet.... but it does look really cool and nice for the price as well.

Well, there is the Atlantis (pretty brand-spankin' new), but that is a "sub-ohm" tank, one of the first of its kind. It only operates using .5 ohm coils (exclusive to the Atlantis, not interchangeable with other Aspire tanks/coils). I've been looking into getting one, but I also want to wait to see Kanger's sub-ohm tank response. For a standard Ego battery, the Aspire Atlantis will not work, considering most Ego batteries can't fire lower than .8 ohms.

For now, the Nautilus seems to be the "end-game" for clearomizer users. At least, until the next big thing comes out.

It is pretty cool - and it's not all that big, maybe the width of 2 bic lights side by side. Just fills the palm of my hand. Compared to the Spinners, it hits really nicely, the battery lasts me about a day and a half and a lot more power than the Spinners (I have a 650, 1300 and 1650 mah). Well, it's worth looking at down the road when you're ready for a change.

FYI, the Eleaf iStick is a really tiny device, and for the power it provides (especially at the cost) it seems well worth the money.

Here's a size comparison that another user posted. The iStick is the one on the right. Far smaller than any other box mod in the same power range.

Holy crap, it's the size of a lighter!?!?!? if I get the iStick, would the Atlantis work on it? I haven't gotten into anything other then for 510.

The Atlantis heads are too low ohm to work on the iStick. You're gonna need something that fires 30W or higher for the Atlantis to work effectively. I can't imagine hitting a .5 ohm coil at less than 50W, based on what I use/experienced.

I used the full sized protanks for a year, but on the eGo bases from the miniprotank. You have to add a extra silicone cap (inverted) on top the coil to seal the space.

It's easy:
An eGo type battery like what you have is just a battery with some eletronics glued and soldered onto it.
Maybe the electronics will fail, but in any case eventually the battery itself will fail; it's only good for 100 to 300 recharges.
And before it goes it will deteriorate; it ain't going to sudden death, it's going to get old and slow and feeble.


A zmax uses replaceable standard sized 18650 batteries, so if you batteries start going weak, you put in new ones; you might keep using the old ones at home but if you're going out on the road, you take the young strong ones.
Of course the electronics inside the zmax could possibly fail eventually.


The nemesis is just a mech mod; physical bottom switch; adjustable centerpin; a mech mod just holds the battery and maybe you can buy electronics separately, but there's not much choices/variety of electronics available for mechs at the moment.
Basically with a mech there's not much that can fail; (there's much that can 'go wrong' in an ouch sort of way, but there's not much that can fail).

I've of a vamo3, a zmax, and a chiyou(mech) which all use the same M21x1 threading, so I can (and do) swap pieces around between them.
If I bought a nemesis, I couldn't do that because it uses a different thread (m20x... 1?)

For one week I vaped on a Puff brand setup then stopped at a vape shop and got an N mini and spinner 2 and used that for the next 5 weeks then last Wednesday I stopped at the vape shop again and got an Atantis tank and a 60 watt box mod (IPV 2s) and haven't used anything but that since. That was also the last day I smoked a cig. The atlantis tank needs to be refilled often, the box mod is a bit clunky to handle but the quality of the vape and the taste blow away the N mini which is now just for backup. The Atlantis is fine at 8 watts if you want to conserve power. 20 watts seems about right in the shop at work. So far, beginner that I am, I find no reason to push it past 30 watts.

Great info! Thank you! Maybe I'm understanding it wrong but do some vv/vw batteries come (with/buy separate) a 510 threaded ring of some kind? where I could use my current tanks if I wanted?

You're thinking about these:

The isticks come with (a fancy looking) one.
Vape shops should have them.
