Another Noob Intro/Questions

Hello all, first off I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Alex and I live in Michigan, USA. I've been interested in e-smoking for a while and have been doing some fairly extensive research using the internet and other resources. I've been lurking on these boards for a while and so far I have found you guys to be both extremely knowledgeable and also very receptive and helpful. I thank you kindly for that.

I have a lot of experience with a wide range of psychoactives including but not limited to Nicotine, THC, and many others.

I'm 19 years old and have been smoking 1/2-1 packs of traditional cigarettes per day for about four to five years. I've recently decided that for the obvious health reasons I no longer wish to continue smoking. For me, e-smoking seems to be the obvious choice.

I haven't yet purchased an e-smoking device and that's where I've got a few questions. I'm now well-versed with the various types of e-cigs available (penstyle, mini, super-mini, ect..) and I think I've decided that my first one will be a super-mini. I know that these units have their disadvantages when compared to the larger, less cigarette-like units. My reason for choosing the super-mini is simply that I want a device that looks similar to an acutal cigarette. I've found that so much of my addiction to smoking is not only in the nicotine but also in the actual act of smoking. I love holding a cigarette, blowing smoke-rings and also the social/fellowship aspect of smoking. I think this aspect would be hindered to some extent by carring around and chiefing on a devide that looks more like a pen than a cig.

Here's where my question comes in; I'd like to know if the disadvantages to the super-mini's (specifically the DSE-103 unit) are significant enough that it isn't even worth buying. I know the carts and batteries don't last as long as with the larger units, and I'm willing to make that sacrifice to have an e-cig that looks like a regular cig. I think I'll compensate by buying some kind of liquid and a couple extra batts.

What should I order with my initial purchase? Obviously an e-cig, carts, and a charger. Should I invest in extra batteries/atomizers initially or will these be needed later in my vaping career?

What liquid should I buy? (I smoke both regular and menthol cigarettes)

Are there better (in quality/reliabiliy and also price) super-minis available than the DSE-103? If so what are they and where can I find them?

Any tips/tricks specifically for a 103 user?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to order the V2/DSE-103 starter package from Heaven Gifts on eBay. It comes with the DSE-103, 2 batteries, charger, car charger, 50 cartridges and a case for around $75-80USD.

Thanks a ton for any replies, comments, advice, answers ect..

I look forward to becoming an active poster on this forum and meeting some of you that I've already been acquainted with through your posts.

Thanks again and sorry for the excessive legnth of my first post.

Toke it up,

Alexander J. Nutkins.

can i ask a simple question just from my own experience. u might be able to save a few dollars by buying from a seller here in the usa. also u would be alot closer for any warranty issues. im not here promoting myself at all i just would suggest to u that u buy from someone alot closer then china or hongkong less wait, easier for warranty etc... probably shouldnt post this as i am a supplier but i feel for a mewbie they should purchase from somewhere in the usa just for warranty, service etc.....

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, I was just drawn to that particular seller because that package comes with fifty carts, I want some carts to come with the device so I can begin experimenting asap. I didn't actually consider the warranty issue, that would be a ..... waiting for spare parts to ship from china. Thanks man.

IMHO, Forget the 50 carts and go with a starter kit and 10 or 15 ML of liquid and 5 carts in nic level of your choosing, top off carts as needed.

Occasionally rinse, dry and re-fill the cart filling when they start to get funky tasting or you notice a slight browing on the mouthpiece end. I can't speak for the super-mini, I have a couple of 901s, and love them. You should be able to get started for around the same price, with the 10/15 ML liquid (I'm not sure about the car charger though) I'd opt for a 2nd battery and atomizer instead.

And yeah. Go with a USA supplier...

Yeah and you should actually go for a white DSE901 because they are still smaller than classic and e-cigars and are only a little larger than a regular cig. They look kinda like 100s. And yeah the classic size is even a little bigger and heavier in real life than one might think compared to pictures of it...so you probably wouldn't like those like you said.

the previous responses are right on.....i don't know about the 103 (i smoke 901's from puresmoker, faithfully)....but for the same money (or less) you are looking to spend for the kit & 50 carts, you can buy a kit, extra atomizer, and some good juice in your choice of flavors and nicotine level that will refill your carts for a long time, from one of these usa suppliers....i'm not sure about the overseas suppliers, but i know for a fact that these guys here will take good care of you, if you choose one of their products!

Thanks for the replies guys, but I'm still left with a question; What exactly makes the 901 so much better than the 103? Is it just the battery and cart life? If this is the case, like I've already said I'd rather have a the 103 based on looks and I'll compensate for the weak battery by buying a couple spairs. I saw that Leaford gave the 103 a generally positive review (I've watched like all of his vids and he seems excessively knoweldgeable.) so what's so bad about DSE-103, hm?

Either way, I'm definately going to give the Janty RY4 stuff a try and grab an extra atomizer when I finally make my purchase.

Alexander,

The 103 is a good device plain and simple. Judging by how much you smoke, you will probably go through 3-4 charge/recharges per day. If you just went with carts instead of liquid, you would go through about 5-6 easy. If you don't mind about battery/cartridge life, go for it bud! Its your first experience, so most people are just trying to help guide you in the right direction (or what they feel is correct anyways)

In the end, its your choice. The 103 is a great unit, produces good vapor, and is compact in size.

P.S. -- Janty RY4 is excellent juice! Go for it!

Is the "pee wee" on your site a DSE-103? If so I think I'll be making my purchase from your store. I REALLY appreciate the advice and I'm exited to start my e-smoking asap!

Its "Close" ... I need to get my hands on a DSE103 to double check. However, color, size, etc... is very similar. If someone else knows, feel free to chime in! :)

I hate to ask you to describe your products in this context but is this device of similar quality? How is the smoke production and battery life? Does your unit have the little tiny carts that are separate from the mouthpeice or are they one unit like with the 103? Are there any reviews of this product? Sorry to blast away with all these questions, I'm just eager.

No problem Alex ...

Carts on the RN4081 used to be one piece, now they are 2 pieces. Larger tube with a cart that slips in and out. To be honest, I'm not a fan of "Super Mini" ecigs, so I'm not the right person to ask for quality differences. I use them when I test them, and probably have a total of 4-5 days total smoking a super mini.

Lets have other members chime in who have either bought the 103 or 4081 and see if they can give you some differences...

Sorry I couldn't be of better help!
