Hi guys and gals!

Just joined up, but have been "vaping" for a while now. I use quotes as I've been using the mini ciga-like styles to just get a feel for it. Placebo or not, using these weak little things has reduced my analog intake (I make my own american spirits) to roughly 1/2 a pack a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

I just made the leap to a 4nines clone and a svoemesto kayfun lite 2nd batch. Both have been ordered, so I haven't started yet, but I finally made the decision to quit analogs and vape instead.

I'm not into "cloud chasing" so I plan on using dual 3.4 ohm coils in parallel for a total resistance of 1.7 ohms. This should allow me to use the much mod without a regulator to simulate the "hit" of analogs. At least, to my understanding of the magic known as electrical engineering.

Any thoughts, tips, etc?

Welcome to ECF,

Tips:

Get an ohm reader that reads to the third digit ie: 1.74 ohms
ONLY use IMR batteries in a mech mody, The safest batteries would be the Sony VTC line
You also do NOT want to use cheap battery chargers, you want to use a reputable smart chargers
You also need something to check your battery's voltage levels

Welcome. I made the same journey as you. The "e-cigs" only got me to lower with duel use. I made the jump to a mech mods (Icon, Legacy and now a Sentinel MI6) and dropped the analogs the very same day. Not a smoke since. Well one pack when I got stuck in Central America and only had fluid for one day, but that's another story. Been super happy with the Expromizer RBA but am ordering a few RDA's.

Just follow the advice on here as to ohms law and batteries. I use MNKE 18650 IMR and go down to 0.7 with no problems.

I have the same Kayfun Lite Plus 2. Forget about the dual coils, this rebuildable tank atomizer was designed to use a single coil. I use either 28 or 30 gauge Kanthal wire to make a microcoil @ 1.3 ohms and use it on a Silver Bullet mechanical mod. Kayfuns seem to work best in the 1.0 - 2.0 resistance range.

In this blog, I recommend the tools and supplies needed for building your own coils. An ohms reader is an absolute must have. Inexpensive Mod/RDA Setup

This was the best video that I found for the KFL+ using a microcoil and cotton build:

Wow! Thanks guys!

Got a DMM already. I build amps, guitar electronics and effects on the side. I figure the RBA's are the logical step for me. Its nice to hear someone else went that route as well.

The reason I like the mech style is the simplicity factor. I just want to hit the button and drag. I tried a VV for a while, but got annoyed at the ease with which it turned. VW has been on my mind, but I really don't plan on using a zillion liquids. I really only have one that I currently use all the time. Its Revolution Intolerable Acts.

Also, there is the style factor. Being a maker of all kinds of things, I like to be able to appreciate the beauty of design aesthetics, and for me, the mechs just do it.

Having not built this yet, I'm assuming that 8 or so watts nominal will be enough. I can only imagine how few W are put out by the halo G6 mini batt (65mm?) with a 2.8ohm bottom coil mini tank (revolution) I'm using. Basically anything will be better.

What kind of batt life do you get from going "sub-ohm" with an 18350? 18650? Are the MNKE's comparable to the Sony's? I think the sony 's are about 2100mah.

The thing I worry about is going sub-ohm with no regulation or short protection.

I want a small (relatively) sleek device that WILL NOT explode, and has a minimum of moving parts.

Was just on Fleabay and found 2 Panasonic NCR18650 Li-ion 3400mah protected batts. Should I pull the trigger or hold out for the Sony's?

I don't know which version this is, but I mentioned before to ONLY use IMR batteries in your mech mod.

Do you have a link to the battery?

I also would becareful with ordering batteries off ebay.

It won't let me post links. I'll hold out for the IMRs. I don't feel like looking up the data sheets for these, and I'd rather just take the advice. IMRs seem to be the standard anyways.

Yeah, eBay can be sketchy, but it was a reputable seller. I'm super careful as to whom I buy from, haven't been burned yet.
