Howdy.

For all that have started vaping, I'm going to assume most people have gotten into this as a method of quitting analogs.

Up where I am, apparently nic isn't readily available. I've picked up my eGo-T (I'm not home during the day, and I figured the tank and battery would last me the day, but it also came with the 510 atty and cartridge). While I wait for my nic to arrive, I'm just playing around with the eGo.

Without any nic, did anybody give up analogs right then and there?

Silly question, I've found that while playing with the eGo, I've managed to cut my analog use to a little over half (6). Was this the case for you?

Thanks.

I started with nic, but have played around with low-nic and no-nic juices. Mostly because I'm working from home atm, and becoming an obsessive compulsive vaper. It's always in my hand.

I find that about 1/5 of my smoking urges are really nicotine related, at a guess. I have two 510s with me right now, one with 0mg blueberry, one with 18mg RY4.

The blueberry battery gets charged maybe 4-5 times in the day. The RY4 battery might last the day, might get charged once.

I let myself hit the blueberry, habitually, whenever I want. I don't pick up the other one except with the onset on nicotine fit symptoms. (SLight symptoms, hourly. If I skip it, it goes away, but comes back the next hour MUCH stronger. After good, big, slow meals, symptoms are major.)

My thought is, you can reduce/replace the number of analogs with the 0-nic, no problem. Cause a lot of the analogs you've been smoking were about habit, not nicotine. But some will be harder to let go of.

YOu could just grit your teeth, say **** it, and get through. That's basically a cold turkey quit, though, and it doesn't work for many people.

YOu could also vape when you want, have the occasional analog when you need to, whihc seems to be what you're doing so far.

If you really want off teh analogs, and nic isn't available, I also might look into gum, patches, or snus that you could "add" to your vaping habit.

Best, and welcome,
Ande

4mehealth, I think it is different with everyone, some can quit "cold turkey" and others have used patches, gum, Chantix and other medications, and some of us have turned to "vaping". While vaping, some have weaned off analogs completey and others have not. Some have gone to vaping as a mehtod to quit the nicotine habit altogether and then cut down from 36mg, to 24, then 16mg and so on until they quit vaping and nicotine altogether as well. Everyone moves at their own pace and there is no "right way or wrong way". It's just what works for you that is important.

It's great that you've replaced some cigs by vaping, even without nicotine. I started vaping to see if i could save a bit of money, and to see if i could replace a few cigs- never expected to actually stop smoking completely. It was a very pleasant surprise- but i did and do need the nicotine.

Have you checked out the canadian subforum yet? I know they've been grappling with the difficulty of getting nicotine juices in Canada Canada Forum

In my own experience I did get the nicotine e-jice when I first started as I was a heavy smoker who was going through about three packs a day, My first e-cig was an ego then the tank. it took me about a week to entirely put down the analogs and went from 36mg as where that is where I started to 18mg now ina matter of three months I wont entirely go off the nic at least not right now but hopefully one day

Honestly, there's so much stuff here I haven't gotten that far down the forum list to see a "canada forum". I'll get there eventually.

Thanks for the answers everybody. Without the nic, I'm still craving the analogs. The only issue I've got now is every time I start one, I feel like I'm tasting an ashtray. Guess that's a benefit. Or perhaps I'm just vaping so much that I've cleansed my pallette.

Vaping 0 nic would certainly be better than cold turkey! And there are some juice flavors with some of their own throat sensation that can provide a bit of a substitute for the TH of nicotine. Menthol. mint, cinnamon, ginger, and other spices all have some throat sensation. And the activity of hand to mouth and breathing in something is a strong habit.

As it ends up the nicotine alone is not the most addictive part of cigs. Cigs have other chemicals in them (4000) at least one of which increases the addictiveness of nicotine. I think some studies say that by itself nicotine isn't all that addictive. So just by cutting your cigarettes use you will be weaning yourself off those 4000 other chemicals. Once I comfortable on ecigs I was able to cut my nicotine down fairly easily. I dropped from 18 to 12 then to 6 and now I am vaping some 6 and some 0.

I certainly think it would be possible to quit with zero nic juice but you may need tobacco aroma and some TH. There is a throat hit additive called Qhit and you should be able to find it wherever Flavourart flavorings are sold (maybe at Happy Vaper?). And some people find adding pure grain alcohol or vodka to the liquid adds some hit. You can also try a black pepper eliquid - or get the Flavourart Pepper flavoring and mix some up with PG and try ading a bit of that for TH.
