Right if I put my usb charger in my pc it intially glows green as it has nothing attached,if I then attach battery after a little bit of turning it goes red, but if I screw it on all the way it goes back to green, do I want it screwed tight and therefore my battery doesn't need charged , in which case I think I need a new one or have I been screwing it to tight? I'm thinking the latter as the blue light flashes on the button but don't want to wreck the battery? I

I've had the same thing happen with my Riva charger. Cleaning the center post on the charger and battery with a q-tip fixed it. You should only screw the battery in until it makes contact. It you tighten it too much it can push the center post of the battery in too much.

ok wasn't sure if I was over tightening or not thought it was most likely tho cool ,hopefully my battery is not dying as I was worried about it only had it a week PHEW!

I killed my first by over-tightening in the charger and then being clumsy about trying to lift the post (or it may have been killed already)

I never screw anything in further than necessary to make contact and work (including attys. cartos, chargers). The 3.7v Rivas have a translucent substance around the battery post that lets blue light show through and the post moves a bit too easily in that stuff. When I charge my Riva, I slowly screw it onto the charger until it flashes (or the light on cable flickers) then I very slowly turn it just enough to get a solid red light on the end of the charging cable.

Those chargers are about $6 (US) or so and it's a good idea to have spares. The connector is physically soldered into a little circuit board inside the dongle (technicians' pet name for something that plugs into a connector and adapts to another device). Sometimes the parts get a little loose. That's your hint to order a backup!

You also might want to order or buy locally one of those USB cigarette lighter adapters. You can plug in the dongle from your wall charger and charge from the cig lighter outlet in the car when necessary.

This part will fix your problem for 4.99 (pounds). Use the UK site.
