I debridge a 510 cartomizer recently and during the process, I removed the wicking that the coil was wrapped around. My experience with dripping after this was hit and miss. Sometimes the coil would heat the liquid I dripped and sometimes it didn't. So.... I have a quite a bit of silica rope that I had purchased for making my own wick's for an ego-T and because I don't really use the ego-T setup anywore, I have found a use for all the rope. I took a small piece of silica (few strands about 1/4 inch long) and just placed it directly above the coil in the atomizer carefully using tweezers. Drip.... goes the liquid on the silica rope above the exposed coil.... click.... goes the atty.... and finally a consistent vtf from the debridged atty! It works great for me! Once the "loose" wick gets to gunky, in the trash it will go and after a little cleaning and dry burning of the atty, another small piece goes back on top of the coil. Just thought I'd share. Maybe others have done this as well, and I see why.
