hello everyone,
i have recently started Sub-ohming and loving it, but have been having some issues with wicking and hot-spots & dry-hits on several occasions....last night i stumbled onto something that seems to work very well imo.

first, i love the way Silica wicks but hate the taste and cannot use it as my primary wicking medium.
second, Cotton tastes fantastic and when fluffed/spread out works/wicks pretty darn good, but the hot-spots/dry-hits are a problem after a short while for me.

my solution, i took a piece of 2mm silica and wrapped it in a very fluffed out almost see-thru piece of cotton of the same length and wicked the coils in my rda, working very well so far with no hot-spots or dry-hits...even chained hit and still no probs...also considering unraveling some silica and just use a couple of strands in the same manner,
now i have the wicking ability of Silica and the Taste of Cotton combined.

Been using a Helios rda and it has a fairly deep well compared to other RDA's i have and it's nice to drip 10 drops or better and Vape for awhile instead of dripping every 3 min.

i'm sure this is being done by others here & elsewhere because i'm usually the last one to figure something!
any-how i'm a happy camper to find this out....if ya haven't tried it, give it a shot.
