Hello to all, I will try to keep this short but here goes.....I am new to vaping-3 weeks. I purchased an Ego kit prior to having cervical neck surgery(fusion of 4 disc) concerned not having analogs in the hospital. Actually thought i Would go back to analogs when I left the hospital but the ecig actually satisfied my urges in the hospital and now enjoy vaping. I was a 1-2 pack/day smoker and now 3-5 analogs a day and hope by next week, be totally a vapor!! I am rather proud of myself considering that I had no intentions of quitting and have smoked for 25 years. After a little research online, i have found tons of information and enjoy my experience with vaping. I bought my kit from a local smoke shop and have since frequented many vendors through this forum....Thanks to all. Here goes with the questions: My kit is the ego ecig using clearomizers(1.6 ml) tanks. It is simple and for now, i am good with that even though I see that it can get more complicated if you choose as I have alot more to learn to advance to that level. Using 18mg juice fyi
1. When purchasing the clearomizers, some have short and some have long wicks--CE4's, any advantage or disadvantages?
2. I have purchased several sample packs of juice to explore what I Like...I assume new clearomizer for new flavor?? Or can you change flavors by washing or doing something to the tanks?? Could get expensive if you explore 20 flavors and need 20 tanks!!!
3. There is nothing like the sizzle of a new tank and fresh battery, I assume after a couple weeks with a fresh battery the sizzle kind of goes away, time for new tank??I do vape constantly like a draw every few minutes, no headaches or symptoms, is this too much? i may ffill the 1.6ml clearomizer tank a couple times a day....not sure how that compares to pack and half a day analogs (Marlboro Lights) in niccotine??
4. Last question for now...I have 2 1100 batteries which work fine but have seen a longer type battery with a dial at the base with different numbers/volts in my local shop. What does this do or mean and is it worth having?? The sales guy didnt seem to have alot of knowledge to share on this battery!! What I have seems to be working, very simple, fill tank, vape and keep one charging!!

please help with any answers to the above and keep in mind I am a noob (trying to learn the lingo as well)!!
Thanking you in advance.

1. Size of wick may change how fast can juice go to the coil, depending on the clearomizer of course. I personally like shorter wicks. have no evidence on this, it just seems to work for me. lol
2. You can clean the tanks, heck some even dry burns their coils. But I would suggest something that has replaceable heads. Vivi, Evod etc.
3. This too, If you change the heads it sizzles again. :)
4. The Ego twist, Vision spinner, Dial a volt etc. you can adjust the voltage depending on your preferred taste, throat hit, vapor, warmth.

Grats on getting rid of stinkies! Goodluck!

1. When purchasing the clearomizers, some have short and some have long wicks--CE4's, any advantage or disadvantages?
Matter of opinion/preference....since you end up tipping them every few puffs anyway. Tip and Roll they call it. Otherwise they get dry. Six of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. I get the long wicks. Others like the short ones. Meh.
2. I have purchased several sample packs of juice to explore what I Like...I assume new clearomizer for new flavor?? Or can you change flavors by washing or doing something to the tanks?? Could get expensive if you explore 20 flavors and need 20 tanks!!!
Get a regular atomizer and a drip tip for tasting flavors. Just 1. And research cleaning it here. For the cartos, keep one flavor for each so you don't have to rotate flavors. They can be cleaned when you exhaust a flavor and want to keep the working carto. Remember they are fairly inexpensive and disposable. That's not to say you should waste them.

When performance degrades significantly, either clean it or toss it. Depends on your...preference and disposable income...I guess. Most will toss an old carto rather than clean it. Some enjoy being frugal.
4. Last question for now...I have 2 1100 batteries which work fine but have seen a longer type battery with a dial at the base with different numbers/volts in my local shop. What does this do or mean and is it worth having??
Variable Voltage. Yes worth having. But not critical right now unless you find that your cartos don't match your current setup. I'd invest in more cartos 1st, and in VV later. But that's just my :2c:

IDK if this is an exact match or not. Suggest a forum search too:

1. Long wicks tend to be top coils. These produce a warmer vapor than the bottom coil cleros. The downside is you need to tip them to keep the wick wet when your low on juice. Bottom coils have a very short wick and give you a cooler vape, but are constantly fed.
2. You can just wash out the clero and clean the head. Soak the head in alcohol for 10 minutes then rinse it well with warm water. dry the head then burn the coil till it glows orange to burn off the built up gunk. Or you can always change the head. I use the Kanger evod(bottom coil) and rebuild the heads, very easy and cheep.
3. No, just time to clean/replace the head. I work from home and chain vape. I can go through 8mls a day sometime. If you feel it's too much, you can always lower your nic in your juices. when I chain vape, I use 6mls or 0 nic juices. when I'm out and about, 12mls to 18mls nic.
4. Variable voltage bats(spinner/twist). You can adjust how your vape hits. If you want to try vv, I'ed suggest a itaste MVP. About the same price(~$60, if you consider your getting 2 cleros and a charger with it. 2 twists will run you ~$45) and it will last you about 2 days or longer on a charge.

Consider getting an atomizer that you can drip onto for testing flavors. They can be easily cleaned and reused. If you're like most of us, within a couple months your tastes will settle down on a few flavors at a time. I started off with flavors galore but soon into it I found that I can't really juggle more than 2-3 flavors. Once the novelty of vaping wears off it becomes more like smoking analogs was: you just want it to be there reliably and do the job.

About the only thing I can suggest is to try different juice delivery systems. I've used carto/tanks, (don't worry you'll get there in time), And RBA's again don't worry you might get there. I was always a BIG fan of the Vision Vivi nova's. Then I tried the Kanger T3's. It's a bottom coil and I really enjoy them. But like others have already said, It's not what we use but what suits your needs and taste.
And congrats on the slowdown. Major pat on the back for you my friend. Any cigarette not smoked is a good one. "Never count the ones you smoke. Only count the ones you didn't smoke". :toast:

Hey Hank! Just wanted to welcome you & wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery! It looks like you've gotten the same answer I would give to your questions. Its amazing how you don't expect to quit but find yourself able to with these things! I didn't think it was possible at first but it works! But a vape shop in Wilson!! That's awesome! I'm originally from not to far from you...Halifax county. I was thinking about checking to see if there were any shops on my next visit to see the family. Oh & keep at it! I'm sure you'll be able to kick those last few cigs to the curb in no time!

Thanks for the comments! It's a smokers palace shop in Wilson right off of I95. Small shop but nice and friendly staff, I also enjoy a little hookah from time to time!,

vaping is definitely quite literally a journey that everyone whom finds themselves here at ECF will have to embark on. There are some people that will try disposable e-cigarettes and they will use them religiously without ever wanting a rechargeable kit. There are other people that will stick to the cigarette sized e-cigs and they will never try eGo batteries. Theres people that will never try ego twists or ego spinners (the variable voltage ego batteries) and then there is a large group of people here that refuse to go larger than eGos. If you are ENJOYING WHAT YOU ARE USING and you SEE NO REASON TO UPGRADE, then DO NOT UPGRADE! :) My advice to you? If your enjoying the eGos then definitely think about trying a big eGo twist. They rock. And you'll be able to crank up the "volume" of your vapor + flavor.

Good luck on your vaping journey! ! !

I know this is probably a million dollar question, but based on the information I provided as far as being a smoker and how much I vape, any "guess" if I'm getting more or less nic than with the analogs? I feel great just knowing that the tar and other 4000 chemicals are gone but don't want to over vape because it is soothing and relaxing to me and can practically vape anywhere!!

No one has answered how long a disposable clearomizer tank would typically last based on my vaping desribed in original post.

Thanks for all comments!!

Once you've found the level of nic that satisfies, it doesn't really matter if you're getting more or less. You're getting enough :vapor:

How long will a clearo last... at about your 3 mls per day.... Depends. First, on the juice. Some (especially the darker and / or sweeter juices) tend to gunk the coil quicker than others. I have some juices that gunk a coil in about 5 mls, some I can go 15 or more mls before I need to dry burn or replace the coil. Sometimes a higher voltage can help prevent the gunking, but go too high and you risk a burnt taste to the juice.

Of course, you're using a fixed voltage battery, so that's not an option!

Variable Voltage (VV) allows you to adjust the voltage delivered to the coil to suit your taste, the resistance of the coil, and the juice itself. The MVP is a great option, but the Vision Spinner is a good choice, too. You can use your existing charger with it. (The MVP does not come with a charger. It does come with a cable, but you need a wall adapter (or USB port) to plug into. If you have a USB charger, say for a smart phone or tablet, it will probably work.) I have an MVP, a few Spinners, and like them all. Not everyone likes the box shape of the MVP, but if you do, it's a great mod.

If you decide to stick with the CE style clearos, go for the CE4+, CE5 or the like, as they have replaceable / rebuildable heads, and the CE4 does not. And I'd recommend long wicks as well. I find that I usually hold my vape close to horizontal, and the long wicks stay pretty moist that way. I only need to twirl when the level gets really low.

1. Long wicks require less tilting when juice gets low. And sometimes they use short wicks for thicker ejuices (100% vg)
2. I say just buy an atomizer for testing juices. You'll actually find atomizers to have a cleaner flavor than clearos or cartos. Just takes patience to drip.
3. I usually just base it on the flavor. If it tastes burnt or the flavor is getting too weak, maybe its time to change.
4. Every tank, clearo, carto and atty have different resistance (ohm). You will need a higher voltage for the higher ohm attys to get your sweet spot, the lower the ohm the lower the voltage required. I suggest using low ohms for your battery.

Just my 2cents.
Congrats by the way! I couldn't quit analogs without ecigs too. Happy Vaping!

If you're not experiencing nic od symptoms (see Medical & Health Issues posts) then you don't have to worry of od'ing or over vaping. The length of time a clearomizer lasts depends on the clearomizer itself. These things are not guaranteed quality control. Sometimes you get a good one that lasts you a week to 3 weeks, sometimes you get a dud right out of the box. That's why clearomizers with replaceable heads are popular, you just change the head with the coil and wick which is inexpensive compared to having to replace the whole clearomizer. One such clearo is the Kanger T3, Kanger Evod, and the Kanger Protank (the protank is made of glass). They're bottom coil clearomizers and they're less fidgety, just fill and vape.

First off congratulations on joining the vaping ranks and cutting down on the analogs. In time you will likely be totally analog free, but don't rush it, less stress = higher success rates for most.

As for your setup, your lucky in that you found a decent setup to start with. I agree with most of the previous comments but would like to add one or two of my own.

Batteries, swapping to recharge and making sure you have a fully charged one when out and about can be avoided to some extent with a passthrough battery. My first (successful) setup was an eGo-T (the tank system). Shortly after making the transition from analogs I found a passthrough battery. After almost 2 years of vaping my regular eGo batteries sit in a drawer as backups. With the 1000mAh passthrough I just plug it in anytime I'm not using it (like sleeping or eating) or even sometimes when I'm just sitting watching TV and chain vaping. It's a passthrough when it's plugged in and a regular battery when not, works great and costs about the same as a regular battery, but without the swapping to recharge part. I still carry one of my original eGo batteries as a backup when out, stuff happens and some old habits are still ok.

The only other thing I would suggest is learning to DIY your e-liquid. It's not hard really, can be very cost effective, and gives you total control over the nicotine levels you vape. To quit analogs I started at very high nic levels (strong habit after 30+ years). Now I'm at about 1/3 the level I started at and still going down. Nice feeling to be in control for a change instead of the habit controlling me.

Best of luck to you and hope to see you around the forum lots more.
