I'm very new to this (2 weeks) and got my start at a local store here. Finding out that there is A LOT more to this than what they told me and I want to learn more. Watched a video from pbusardo that helped me understand volts, ohms, watts, resistance, etc.... now I just need to know how to put it all together. I currently have the EVOD battery and tank or clearomizer (not sure on the difference yet). From what I can tell, the tank/clearomizer is a good choice but maybe I need a different battery that would enhance my experience? I'm getting a burnt taste with this that I wasn't getting with the cartomizers I started with, but I like the convenience of the tanks. Any help out there in simpler terms for this newbie? Also, looking to start purchasing online, suggestions there?

EVOD heads are re-builtables, or replace the coil (cheap - either way) and it is regarded as a very good tank delivery system. When you say it is burnt taste, its reached its useful life. You can try cleaning and see if you can get most of the dark stuff on the coil off ?

Upgrade to your system would be EGO twist/spinner , or more expensive VV-VW systems. A lot of people on this forum are having good deals from Fasttech but I rather not get into politics of discussing it. You can find plenty of info on this forum. I have bought a few items and have no trouble.

Advice, Always have back to your battery, tank (EVOD, Cleros, Atty's what ever you use), and more different flavors.

Regards.

A burnt taste indicates its not wicking your juice well enough for the coil. Causing it to run out of juice so it starts to burn it as coils dry
Out. You need to get better wicking. Or reduce power/ increase ohms of your coil. A 1.8 burns hotter than a 2.5 so need more juice to keep from drying out.

We need to know what kind of juice pg/vg or 50/50 should be on bottle. And exactly what kind of tank? An evod bottom coil tank? Or a different kind with the coil at the top?

So I didn't know much of anything when I went to the store here... their juice doesn't say what it is and now that I know there's differences, I'm going to ask them about theirs. The batteries I have are an EVOD 650 and an eGo-C Upgrade (my husband's but I'm trying it). And yes, the tank is an EVOD bottom coil tank. I think, after reading some things, I am going to get the twist or spinner and I'll buy some juice from one of the places I've heard good things about on here.
Really excited to keep learning more and testing things out! Thanks so much for the help! First time on any kind of forum too!

Gosh, CandiSu, you started out just like the rest of us! Totally amazed at the diversity of "stuff", and bewildered

The evod battery is probably a fixed 3.7 volt unit, so unless the coil has suddenly decided to change itself to a lower resistance, odds are that it's just gunked up. They do that... (btw, darker and thicker juices do that more quickly than lighter and thinner ones.)

Yes, the evod clearo is a bottom coil. A thorough cleaning and dry burn may help, replacing the coil with a new one probably will. Use the search bar up top.

And since you really do need to have backups, moving to a spinner or similar VV unit means you have the evod battery as your first backup.

Don't try to upgrade too fast. Get comfortable with the ecig, the charging time for your battery(s), and what flavors you like before you start worrying about upgrading and figuring out what delivery systems you like. From reading ECF, I thought I should get a twist with a vivi nova because it was the cat's meow. Turns out those were nice, but not my favorites.

Hi

I used Joyetech 650mAh eGos (3.3v) with Stardust clearos for months before I even got a 1000mAh. It was at least another month before I got a Twist. I like taking slow steps, so when I advance I have something to compare it to. It's wonderful there are so many choices!

Now That's what I'm talking about! Why do you need to upgrade if everything you already have is working great for you. I also use simple ego battery and learning about different juice delivery systems, which keeps me busy enough. I'm not saying I won't upgrade forever but ....:)

Welcome to the forum. Just be careful. It can become an expensive hobby. Vape on!

I just started out with an ego style battery and a clearomizer. I had some head issues, and wasn't able to get different heads for a few days so i had to move to a carto/tank instead. I notice a very big difference with that. I am getting comfortable trying out new tanks/clearos/attys before I move up to another type of battery.

One step at a time. If you ever have a question, I have found the easiest thing to do it google it. It usually brings you back to this forum anyway!

Happy Vaping!

I've had a couple Evod, Protank, and T3 coils just not work right out of the bubble packaging or shrink wrap. If I had that head I'd rebuild it, but for now, just swap the head out. Evod battery is just a clone of a Joyetech Ego battery, so it can be at 3.3v or 3.7v output. Most times Evods ship assembled with a 2.2 or 2.5 ohm coil, not common, but I could imagine even on a 3.7v output battery, a 1.5 to 1.8 ohm coil wouldn't be burnt taste all the time. Not like the coil heads are that expensive to replace either, about 3 USD a head or 12 USD for a pack of five, still cheaper than a carton of smokes in the long run as a head should last at least 2-4 weeks.

Next issue would be as stated above, Propylene Glygol to Vegatable Glycerin ratio. If the liquid fresh is extremely watery and thin, then you have more PG in the mix and shouldn't have any wicking issues, if it is thick almost oiley or syrupy, there is more VG in the mix and that can cause wicking issues if you are doing chain vaping or several successive hits in short amount of time. To remedy this, is to do primer puffs, take a couple puffs without firing the button to hopefully pull some liquid into the coil cup to burn before firing, on my T3's and Protank I can tell I am getting liquid in by bubbles floating up to the top after doing these primer puffs, Evod and MT3 it is hard to see this through the sight windows, but the principle still works. If this still doesn't produce anything but a burnt taste, then the coil is super gunked up needing a cleaning, dry burn, rinse and dry out, the wicks are scorched beyond redemption, or the coil has a hot leg or hot spot and not evenly vaporing, it needs replacing.

Hello and welcome :)

It can be a bit to take in. Before finding this forum, I thought all e cigs looked like plain old cigarettes. Keep the coils wet in your evod. That's the trick. Getting used to your equipment. You have an alright setup.I am kind of jealous, because I didn't start with something so nice. If you start rushing out and buying tons of stuff.......you'll have that much more to learn. Congratulations on the two weeks. You're doing good :)
