Anti-smoking experts paid by Big Pharma | Frank Davis

These massive conflicts of interest obviously raises doubts about the reliability of other scientific reports they have been responsible for over the years. This is especially the case regarding the reports which have recommended smoking bans because of the assumed risk of passive smoking – for smoking bans have led to strong economic benefits for the drug companies, the three experts received money from.

While most authorities around the world have been vocal about the mortal dangers of secondhand smoke because of Samet’s conclusions, there is no consensus in the scientific community that passive smoking poses a risk of death. It is probably not possible, because the amount of smoke ingested by a normal passive smoker who lives and works with smokers, is only about one thousandth (0.1%) of the amount of smoke a smoker inhales. This is equivalent to the consumption of 6-10 cigarettes per year.

Thank you, Painter, for posting this. :) Knew pharma has been involved in a big way just not to what extent and for how long.

As a side bar, noticed in the past ten yrs. that the base levels for having high blood pressure, high chlorestral and being pre diabetic have been revised downward. In other words, the numbers that were considered safe are not now; and, therefore, it is recommended that you start taking blood pressure and chlorestral medication and buy a diabetic test kit. I also noticed in dr's ofc that their brand spanking new electronic blood pressure cuff gizmo machine always registered a higher blood pressure than their old one and the one I had at home. Think something's happin' here?

It's a good start, but the author didn't say anything about the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation...
The New Corporate America Business Model

True, but nothing 'new' about it. The true benefactor - usually the person who created a business from scratch, offering new products or services, worked long hours, gave up many of the niceties early on and made the money, then dies, and the 'recipients' of his or her wealth, squanders it on pet projects (that the creator/entrepreneur would dismiss out of hand) of the spouse or spoiled off-spring, who, many times never did a lick of work in their lives (there are notable exceptions, but that's the pattern).

That's exactly where the biggest racket lies. All of the alphabet soup and body parts organizations (eg CTFK, RWJF, ALA, AHA, ACS, AMA, AAPH, etc.) are actually Big Pharmafia front groups masquerading as "public health". They're sole purpose is to lobby for and promote the commercial interests of BP.

And when the Big Pharma money is funneled to them through a third party like RWJF, it gives them a convenient excuse not to disclose their massive and fatal conflicts of interest. The whole operation constitutes racketeering and fraud of the highest order.
