Recently gained interest in RDAs over the past two months so i finally made the decision to buy a Mako. So far I am in love and don't honestly ever see myself switching back to pre-made coils in tanks. Anyways my question is..what are the advantages of buying lower gauge wire? I have used only 28 gauge kanthal a1 for the past couple weeks and was considering trying something new say around 22g...Is there much of an advantage over 28g?

I always use 29ga, since I definitely don't want anything below 1 ohm, and usually stick to around 1.5Ω. With 28ga, even a coil with the same exact resistance just heats up too slowly to suit me -- when I press the button and inhale, I don't want any waiting around.

When I first got my magma, instead of the 1.8Ω coils I had been using in my kayfuns, I built a 1.3Ω coil for the magma, and even .5Ω lower, 28ga was still too slow to suit me. Now I just use 29ga and build around 1.4-1.5Ω for everything.
