Kanthal question

Looking for 30 gauge but got a bit confused when I saw this:
Kanthal A1 Heat Resistance Wire - 0.3mm Diameter (300 Micron or 28 AWG) - 50 Metre Spool
Am I right in assuming that this is the wire I'm after, the 28 AWG has thrown me somewhat. I'm aware that AWG stands for American Wire Gauge so should I be getting one that says 30 AWG instead? If so, that brings another question, lol. Do I buy 250, 270 or 280 micron wire?

While you can use the wire gauge you want... 32 is a some what standard for most.
And are you really going to use 50 Meters?? Microns are just another way to measure..

The 50m was just what I copied, won't be ordering that much.
From those examples, can you answer my question?
I'm not getting how there can be 3 different micron sizes for the same AWG.

Someone awkwardly rounded to the nearest value. True AWG 30 is 0.254 so nearest is 0.25mm (250 microns).

Thanks, Finder, makes more sense now. Will go with the 0.25mm option.

I don't do flippin gauge.

(drives me bonkers...)

I buy 0.2 and 0.25.

0.3 is best for big rebuildables, if you want to get under 1.5ohms.
