About this time last year I bought a kit from the mall. Fifty-One Duo style. I did my homework after the purchase. I do not recommend it to anyone. Luckily they have a good warranty and I live close to the mall. Over the past year I have replaced 8 batteries and a charger.

Despite my poor purchase, I have stuck with it and have been smoke-free during that year. To celebrate I need to purchase a real e-cig. I am thinking of an Ego.

I want to do this right. Besides an Ego starter kit, what else should I purchase? I believe I will go with the old model and not the tank model. I understand they are relatively reliable, but should I purchase spare parts ahead of time.

Anyone recommend a good place to buy an Ego from. I have found a juice supplier I am happy with. Freedomsmokeusa has been good to me.

Unless it actually has to be an official branded eGo I'd say, save a bit of cash and get the riva 510 lite starter kit from liberty flights. It is essentially an eGo kit in all but name, just rebranded and slightly diff batteries. A lot cheaper though and performance wise you'll not notice a difference.

For proper, actual eGo kits most vendors have them as they are very popular. Totally wicked do then branded as: The tornado, they are true eGo's but they are pretty pricey and prefer to push the tank models these days I noticed.

Only real diff that may or may not matter to you with a Riva 510 is: the eGo variable voltage booster does not work on riva kits and I think it's fair to say, overall the build quality and quality assurance isn't perhaps as strong as a eGo proper. It's so slight though I'd not worry about it too much and besides LF are very good at sorting stuff out. I like them a lot as a hardware vendor (slightly less as a juice vendor, though they are not bad their either).

I think supertmanufacturing still has a clearance on some eGo kits, they might be older models since they don't have the 5 push off safety function to keep it from accidently turning on in your pocket. You could also try the Ego mega dual coil cartomizer(EMDCC) since you don't want a tank, madvapes and others have them for $2.50 each

Since you're not interested in the tanks, just get some eGo batteries and a charger and use them with whatever 510 or eGo carto/setup you want

I recommend only buy Joye brand or Janty brand - i.e. original manufacturer. There are some clones around that seem to break easily. There is one clone that is reverse polarity (Ego J or something?) and will fry other Ego batteries with its charger.

Liberty-Flights.com is one vendor I recommend and they state their warranties. Press 20% off upper left front page before shopping so you will see the lowered prices. Also consider their Riva 510 (the most popular Ego clone and the kits they carry are 3.7v, a bit more voltage than Ego). And i see a 3-click disable was added to their black Riva 510 SE kits and that may be handy for pocketing it.

Get a drip tip. If you choose an ego with a wide atty tube (not sure which type that is A or B) then you need an Ego drip tip. For a narrow atty tube you use a 510 drip tip. Drip tips are great for trying juices and vaping ones that are too thick for some cartomizers.

Pick up a pack of Boge cartomizers (the 3 ohm ones are easier to learn on and more forgiving as you learn to keep them damp - they won't singe as easily) then you may prefer the hotter 2 ohm ones (they will also use your battery charge up a bit faster)

I recommend a spare charger cable or 2 (I keep one at work and 2 at home for each ecig I own)

And ELiquid! You could get some with the kit then get more interesting PG/VG blends elsewhere. I use PG w/ 20% or less VG in cartomizers. And on an atomizer you can use any PG/VG as long as it flows at least as fast as you vape (if not, add a few drops of distilled water).

And in general - never screw anything in or on any further that needed for it to work. If you screw things on too far you can depress the batetry post and attempts to lift it may succeed or may ruin the battery (done that)

Have fun!!!

I just ordered a Joye eGo from mypvshop.com. I, too, decided against the tank model, mainly because I like to change flavors fairly often. I'm all the time mixing flavors in my 510 atty. I also ordered drip tips for the first time (for the same reason). You probably will want to get a couple extra atomizers. Disclaimer: I left ecigs for about 8 months, so I cannot vouch for the quality now. However, when I started about a year ago, the attys were hit or miss. I would get two or three that were great, and one that was crap (or anyway, I couldn't make it taste good). That may have improved because I assume they've been working on improvements pretty regularly. One last thing -- the starter kit was on sale! :)

From Liberty Flights you can get the ego (Riva or Joye). They may be out but another good option would be an e-power. They're like an ego, have the same connection but use inexpensive batteries. Big savings on batteries.

Another option is the KGO from Hoosier. Very large battery.

Also the Echo (KR808) or the Echo-e. Big batteries, very big cartomizers.

I'll post some links if you're interested!

volcanoecigs.com has a great price on the inferno 1000mah an ego knock off, with a 1 year warranty on the battery. I have three infernos and all are over 6 months old.

I have just placed my first juice order with your supplier freedomsmokeusa, and I looking forward to trying their juice. The reason I am trying their juice is because of this forum. I would not recommend volcano for any other purchases, they have a iffy shipping department, and no quality control on their juices, or atomizers, in my personal and extensive experience with them. But their batteries are straight up top notch, as far as i know, if I am wrong about their batteries please direct me somewhere new!

...another vote for the Riva510 Lite kit from Liberty Flights(click the 20% discount button on top left of page for best price)...a good kit for 30bux(less than 5bux shipping)...it comes with attys and carts...the attys are OK for dripping but the tanks are a PITA...so goto Crystal Clear Vaping and pick up one of their 15 carto bundles...the LR Boge2.0 are ol' dependables, the Resurrectors ROCK(what I use) and the clear DCCs are great as well...with the carto bundle, they throw in a couple of drip tips and a syringe...shop for juice from either Liberty Flights or CCV(free shipping) to get it all in one place and you will be vaping on a new, well thought of setup for around 70 bux.......Happy Vaping

Hello fellow Smoke51 mall buyer :) I bow to your steadfastness lasting a YEAR with a Smoke51. WOW. I moved on within two weeks. Bravo to you. That's commitment. :nun::nun:

Lots of good advice here. You can't go wrong with a Fat Batt. KGOs are my faves and the Rivas are very close. There are warnings on the eGos about using low resistance supplies. That's a consideration for you if you're planning to try the dual-coil or low resistance cartomizers or atomizers.

I hope you pamper yourself as you celebrate a year tobacco-free. Maybe some premium juices, a silly-colored drip tip or two and whatever else catches your eye. You deserve it!

This is my recommendation if you are looking far an ego.

Ego 510 Passtrough 3.7 Volt

Fabulous deal! I paid $25 + shipping and love, love it. Knowing I have a PV always charged takes the worry out of vaping. I'd suggest two, one as a backup. I use a wall plug instead of a PC port. Your fave juice shop has the wall connectors. Also works with an iPad, iPhone and prolly other phone wall/USB connectors.

Yep, I have already got 2 of them. Might get 2 more. At $19.99 these things are great for any beginner or vet.

32 days smoke free. BUT... I wish when I first started (stopped?). I would have went right to this set up:

2- Ego-T 1000 mah passthroughs, they come with a charger each, you can smoke while they charge. Screw on the USB cover and you can take em anywhere. Some dual coil LR cartomizers , or even just some regular 510's, add your fav juice and your on your way. In my opinion this set up rocks !! For performance and versitility... Been thru more money than I care to speak of buying tanks, attys, carts, etc.
This is just IMHO.. Thanks
I got the Ego's from Mike & Carols.. FOR 18.00 EACH, to me, that is a screamin deal I do not know if they are true Ego's or not, but they do say Ego-T on them
