Any advice you usually give to newbies...

I am putting together a list of advice (to make into a video review) for people about to begin vaping... only problem is I am a newbie myself (4-5 weeks). I am wondering what advice you think is important to have in the video so I can compile a list of necessary info.

So far I am planning on including...

-a brief encyclopedia of terms names for different parts of the e-cig

-an example of topping off, dripping and filling with syringe

-showing disassemble and reassemble of carts for the favorite types

-how to inhale on an e-cig vs an analog

-mouth puff vs direct inhale (I think that was Leaford's idea... thx leopold lol!)

-atomizer cleaning methods

-what backup parts one should have if one plans to leave analogs behind

-discussion of strength of liquid vs. former smoking habits

-discussion of PG vs VG (some known advantages and disadvantages)

-discussion of the fact that choice of e-cig and liquid that is "right" for someone varies by person and is a personal preference so they need to research the boards to decide.

Please let me know what else you guys think should be added to this video. I notice that the newbies come on (myself included) looking for one place to learn it "all" and find frustration because they can't sift through all the info. I spent WEEKS looking through all the threads before finding out even HALF of what I know, but I was so excited about vaping... I bought my first e-cig after only a week of research. I wish I had known more before I did.. would have saved a lot of $ and frustration. I think it would be nice to have a summary "pamphlet" in the form of a video to give them a head start. I know others have tried this... but I want to try to make this one thorough.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Spikey, Sun provided the following advice on replacing cartridges that may be helpful:

"No need to buy blanks--just go to any fabric store or Walmart and buy a roll of Polyester Batting for 7 dollars--comes in a 5 foot roll and will last you a year. It is the exact same thing as the cores in what you buy--100% polyester batting--there is no difference--it is the same stuff by all accounts. You just cut a piece and stick it in your cartridge---there is no need to ever buy blanks. Many of us here have used it for quite some time--so save some money and time. A lot of these blanks that are being sold are too loose a fit in the atomizer--Hope that helps--Sun"

Thanks WV.. I just actually got some polyester batting (thanks Sun!) and will definitely include this in the advice video! :)

spikey,

what you might also add is the typical usable length of a cart. how many generic puffs it takes per sample devices to use up the usable amount of liquid and signs of it needing a top off or refill.

By usable i mean actually good vaps and throat hit/ harseness vs when it is running low or needs a refill.

Off the top of my head...

Battery care and maintenance. Always read manufacturer's instruction, and other tidbits of info..

My battery light stays lit after a draw

What do the blinking lghts at the end of the battery mean? At least for an NJOY, there is blinking following a very long draw, when you have puffed more than a specific number of times within 10 secs., and the low battery warning.

What does it mean when my vapor production decreases? Items to check may include dry cart, low battery...

Should you stop vaping when the atmonizer gets hot?

Spikey, my advice is to

1.) don't expect E-cigs to taste exactly like a cigarette
2.) Be patient with your equipment...it may take you a while to figure out all the ins and outs of e-smoking
3.) have fun with it!

As for "how to inhale" I like to think of it as drinking out of a straw, think of it as trying to get as much liquid out of a straw and into your mouth without swallowing..

I know that sounds a bit odd, that is just the best way I can describe it...lol

OH, and you definitely don't have to suck as hard on an e-cig, it's a much smoother draw than a regular smoke...

Good luck!

kate- i think you/your avatar wiggled into my subconcious- last night i dreamt i was being held against my will in a convent so to escape i had to put on the habit and run away...

so strange!! :D

anyhow spikey, something that i experienced, was i overestimated my nicotine needs... what i myself would tell a new person is to take whatever level nic they think they need, and go down a notch.

with the "hyper-vaping" that goes on the first couple days its easy to overdo it, for me anyhow. also, i found that even though after a couple drags my nicotine need was met, i still had the desire to "smoke". so lowering the nic allows you to vape more w/o going to far.
