I keep hearing about using bamboo yarn, but can't find much about using it with the Odysseus specifically. Does anyone here get good results with it?
Is Aunt Lydia's #10 Natural Crochet Threat the best to get? How many pieces of yarn do you use? I haven't tried it yet (still waiting for my Ody to come in he mail) but I would like to go out and buy some if people get good results.

I'm still a bit iffy on using silica, but I might try it for myself first...

Thanks!

Dont use untested wicks sub. Bamboo may produce harmful components when it get heated, noone knows. Use silica wick as the other people said not only because is tested but it has a great taste if you burn it first.

Before some days a friend on ecf told me to not use alcohol on my juices because it will harm my lungs. I stopped it immediately.

Thanks everyone... so as far as being able to buy silica, I should go for the XC-116? And one should torch it red hot before using it?
How thick is this wick?
Or is there a better source for silica? I understand it's very hard to find the original ody wicks?

I wasn't aware they have been tested for e-cig use.. I thought there were still debates going on about it's safety (particles getting into your lungs and whatnot)

I definitely want the best results from my Ody so I will take your guys word!

Its testing and approved for vaping sub. Who knows what bamboo produce or any other material. I dont want to hear bad things after some months or years for vaping stuff that people use now.

As for small pieces into our lungs, I thing thats not true for 2 reasons:

1. The small pieces have to be smaller than a specific amount of mm (I will find the dimentions) to stay in lungs, and
2. When wick is covered by liquid its impossible for particles to go to your lungs. We concern about small pieces when they are really small and around the air, not if they swim inside liquid

ps...... if silica produces small pieces then bamboo does the same and mesh does the same too. All depends on size, the quantity and the environment

Thanks Imeo!

So I will order XC-116 from Nextel Braided Ceramic Very High Temperature Sleeving - is that what most people use?
I see it's about 1.58mm, so one would probably want to use 3 strands? Or maybe 1 strand with 2 smaller pieces in the coils?

I'll do some more searching and see hat other info I can find, but from what I've read I see that people use a torch and heat it so it's red hot before use. In the videos they must have thicker wicks because a lot of people only use one strand, is that the wick from cloudsofvapor?

edit: woops, thanks Captain! I posted before I saw yours :)

I dont suggest anything else exept the wick that I send to Bruce sub. Some friends use nextel because its strong and wicks well like silica but its a little fat for Ody and Penny. I dont recomend it but you can use it maybe
Thanks Imeo!

Yeah that's true I'm sure! I'm moving from Genesis to an Ody, so I do at least have some experience with making coils, and I'm actually pretty excited to move away from stainless steel mesh.. it's just so finicky! My setup would work for a week and then suddenly stop producing vapor and all sorts of other problems. They are great, but I'm just looking for something more reliable, and I'm very happy to have an Ody. Hopefully it comes in the mail today!
I just ordered 3.5mm wick from CoV, very exciting time!

Silica really is the bees knees. You made the right choice. 15ft should last a while but it wouldn't hurt to get a little more. When I first got my Ody I flew through that stuff but I like to expiriment wih my set ups a lot. Once I got a setup I really enjoy and got better at building them it seems my wick stockpile lasts much longer.
