I made some Capt Black with about a mil of that in 14.5 ml of nic juice.
It seems okay - rather interesting, but it really needs something else.
I don't really even know what it's supposed to taste like, but this has
possibilities. It is kinda peppery or spicy or something. I think it can be
really good, but I don't know what to do with it from here. Has anyone
made a good DIY Captain Black? I'm not finding one elsewhere on the
forum. Thanks.

After I posted this, I just happened to be on the vendor's site, and it said
it's not designed to be used by itself, but as a low percentage complement
to another flavor.

That made sense cuz it's pretty overpowering. I think I'll make a tobacco
flavored juice, a put a little Capt. in it to see how that works.

You mentioned vanilla, and I think we're on the same wave link. I was thinking
something creamy might really make it good - something like Bavarian cream
or some custard.

Here's mine for a 10ml bottle
30/70 VG @12mg OR 24mg

1 drop Tobacco Absolute
1 drop Capt Black
6 drop Bavarian Cream TFA
4 drop French Vanilla TFA
2-4 drop Banana (depending on how much banana you like)
1 drop MTS VW
1 drop Smooth TFA
1 drop EM

Pretty nice vape with the Twist at 3.7-4

Thanks! I'm gonna try that. Looks like I had the right idea with Bavarian Cream
angle. :)

Hey, Iffy, sometimes a dupe happens cuz the site drags and almost times out.
It can take so long you think you didn't hit Post. At least you caught it and
made it good. Sometimes when I see a double post I have to fight the urge
to give it the old New York, New York - yuh, know - the Post so nice they
Posted twice :)

Try without the banana first. For some there may be a little too much flavor going on.

That was already in my mind. I like banana, but not ready to vape it, yet. :)

That bananas foster some vendors sell is tempting me, though.

I have them both and not really similar to my palate

I do not know if they're one in the same, but, Black Honey Tobacco (TFA) is pretty good mixed with French Vanilla.

Vanilla 10%
Black tobac 4%

As the days progress, the tobacco is getting less 'bitey', and is turning out to be a smooth and mellow blend.

I finally got what I needed to try this. I like it, and I like the banana in it, too.
The whole thing tastes a little weak to me, but I'm afraid to make it much
stronger cuz I'm having issues with flavor block right now. But it's a keeper,
one way or the other. Anyone else have other Capt. Black recipes?

I just got mine. I'm a new DIYer, so I'm just making one-flavor test batches right now so I can get familiar with each one and see how it changes over time. I started at a much higher percentage than you - 10% - which I've since read is pretty high for a tobacco flavor. However, the Capt. Black tasted pretty good to me fresh at that level. I expect it will intensify as it steeps - so far, it is the only one of the 4 that I mixed on Saturday that has started to change color. It has taken on a light, sort of peachy/orange color. I have some cream and caramel on the way, and also some cherry. I have it in mind to try the Capt. Black with those flavors in various combinations and see if something comes of it.

I would suggest you wait and let the Cpt. Black steep for awhile. You'll probably get an overpowering dark liquorish flavor at 10% which is a lot IMHO. The long steep will give you the true flavor and save you from mixing a lot of Cpt. Black that you may not enjoy. Try starting with 1-2% Cpt. Black mixed with DK Tobacco or Virginia Flue Cured. Or not. If you truly enjoy it by itself at 10%, vape on.

Shoulda come back to this thread :) My experiment was ... enlightening. Primary lesson: even a drop of a super concentrate added to less than 5ml of juice changes everything. The poor captain was lost in a cherry sea, never to be heard from again. The resulting flavor, well ... I don't believe anyone has ever had a reason to make a cherry-flavored wax stripper, but if they did ...

How much DK would you use?
