I would think there would be, depending upon the price and the quality of wood.
Only issue I can see is that people use different switches and connectors that would require specific holes drilled.
Most boxes I see have a nice finish to them so drilling a hole in a nicely finished wood box may not be something people would wanto to do.

I think a small wood project box with a cover that uses the lil magnets and if it was for sale for under $25 would probably be of interest to many. You could charge more if it was nicely finished and had holes pre drilled.

Just my .02

I would definitely be interested, but the two main features I would want would probably bump up the price considerably.

- custom size to fit components I want to use, most project boxes I look at online are either too big or too small in
one dimension or another
- professional finish, I have seen some projects on here that had awesome finishes that I doubt seriously that I could reproduce,
especially the oil rubbed finishes

Here is a mod that Parallex2 did that has a great finish. It is just cedar but the tung oil gives it a very deep finish that I really like.
The only thing that I would like better is something with more brown in it. ( mahogany or teak? )

What would you want for a pre-finished box with holes for 2 switches, atty, and rectangle for voltage meter?
( and lid held on with magnets )

I'd be interested in hickory, oak, redwood, or pecan. It would have to be the size of the reo mini. I'd want one without clear coat, so that I could add my own wooden inlay. If you wanna pre-drill holes for a 510 connection so that it's set up as a bottom feeder that's fine.

Just do the boxes; standard size (whatever you decided that is) and then offer custom sizes for a premium. Make them quality and deliver what you promise. The market will always make room for someone who can do that. People will always make something cheaper because there's always a market for junk.

As far as pre drilled and kits.....no matter what kit you make, they'll want something different and if you try to be all things to all people you'll end up doing nothing well. If anyone is on the ball enough to make a mod, they can drill their own holes. I mean, it's a freakin' hole.

That's my take and I wish you much success. Under promise and over deliver....works every time.

thanx for the advice. and i agree on you with drilling your own holes. as far as the size, the box i have can be made for a 14500, an 18650 or 2 16340 depending on how i configure the inside so its not a problem to change battery size per customer request. its built a little different then other wood mods where the battery has its own portion seperate from the electronics to make it a one size fits all box.

hey thanx for the interest guys. im working as fast as i can but like most everyone else work gets in the way of doing anything fun. the first box i made was a complete bust so i wasted a couple days on that, i started another (actually was walking out the door to go to the shop and decided to check ecf real quick) new design which i like alot more but im still trying to find the best way to make the boxes.
