Im a little ways away from beginning this project, because Im a novice and have more research to do on modding in general. I've been dreaming up a wooden box build using a DNA20 and removable batteries(for charging).

I want to use these tiny rare earth magnets in all four corners of the cover and the mod to allow me to slide the cover off by pushing with thumb, no screws involved at all. I do not know if magnets would over time hurt an electronic chip or 18650 batteries, or somehow interfere with the circuit in general.

If this sounds like a good/bad idea please let me know, as I've stated i'm in the learning process thanks.

Not to worry. My mods have 5 different magnets in them for the switch, the connector and the battery contact. The connector is as close as possible to the booster circuit, and the battery is surrounded by magnets. I don't have a screen, but my mp3 player has an oled that I added a magnet to for sticking it to things. Everything works fine.

Problems lie in magnetic data systems and CRT based screens, which we aren't using.

Great! thanks for responding Asdaq. How long have you mod in operation? Do you know of any threads here that are focusing on a wooden box build? Ill keep looking, I just haven't found much yet.

From my own of this design 2+ years now. I don't know of a specific thread per se as it is a fairly common smaller detail, but a Google image search of 'ecig wood mod magnet' shows quite a few that lead back to threads here, and are the way you described. Adding Dna20 to the search terms shows a couple, but not as many.
