We should be logical about the possible cause of todays (non)events.

Option 1. It was in fact going to happen but "We", (and by "WE" i acknowledge there are alot more of us on other forums as well) gathered our resources, sent our letters & E-mails, responded in constructive ways whenever a news story broke, and somehow somewhere along the line got our point across forcing the FDA to back off at least until another day.

OR

Option 2. It was a big hoax used by a supplier to create a demand for product. That being the case i dont think we should start bashing suppliers. Instead i think we should track down the origin of the original post (Which may have been generated somewhere on some other site then fed here by an unwitting pawn) and find out if that person is a supplier. Then have him/her explain to us one more time exactly how they came across that e-mail.

This was too complex to be a conspiracy involving many people. Especielly when the big 3 are out of commission and would not benefit from this. So i think we should respect that most of our suppliers, especially on this forum have always been here to help. Lets not let one bad (yet extremly creative) supplier mislead us into branding all suppliers as greedy if we do dig a litte deeper and it turns out that way.

I personally will be buying 20 kits very soon to give it a go with friends, family and the countless "What is thats" that i have come across since i began vaping. Ofcourse suppliers are popping up everywhere. Its a very respectable trade to get into.

We have something good here folks. lets be very thankful things went our way today.

I was under the impression that it wasn't going to be a ban annoucement today, but that a bill was in congress today that was some tobacco act.

According to the leaked e-mail, there was supposed to be a big FDA press conference / dog & pony show today, May 5th. Re: the Congressional bill, I think something's happening with that next week; someone else will have to confirm.

As for the legislative issue, please see this post by Bill Godshall, regarding the discussion scheduled in the Senate HELP committee for May 12th, and the continued need for people to contact those Senators on the committee to urge for amendments to any tobacco bill that would allow ecigs to remain on the market:

Rebel, a third plausible reason for the absence of any FDA open announcements today (if originally planned) could be the SE litigation intervening since the plans originated.

I noticed no news coming through so I called one of the 3 companies directly. I spoke with NJOY. They did state that the FDA had NOT banned them, and that today marked no significant day to them regarding a ban. They DID however state that they are under investigation (which I am sure started before today) and they DID say that they are very low on supplies because the FDA did order their shipments held at customs. I asked if I ordered today if I would get my order (just to test how low they really are) and the lady I spoke with said that they wouldn't be able to fulfill an order. Then she followed by saying..."Well, we do have SOME things." So, I am wondering if that FDA letter had nothing to do with announcing a ban today, but if it was just moving up a step from holding orders at customs, if it just opened the investigation...or brought it up to a new level. Either way, I do think that something was to happen today, but nowhere in that leaked letter was a ban mentioned...insinuated to some, maybe...but never actually stated. I think for now the FDA is just doing more of their investigations. Are we in the clear? Nobody will know until the FDA makes a final decision. I, however, am not too concerned. I will find a way to vape no matter what. That might be what makes me decide to take the plunge with nichrome wire...and what might make me cut down to low (if not no) nic liquid. We all know there are other ways to keep the vaping alive. We will be ok. Also, we have all made a move in the right direction, discussing our plans, signing petitions, writing the higher-ups that are involved. So...for tonight...sleep well. We will vape another day!

The FDA listed everything in e-cigs as GRAS long ago. If they turned around and banned something that they had previously recommended as Safe, just b/c people started using it, and other people started making money, they (the FDA) would look like a hypocritical, incompetent, foolish organization.
It would suprise me very much if the e-cigs, or liquids (other than nicotine) were ever banned. Maybe the marketing would be regulated more, but I'm highly skeptical that they will ever be able to ban it altogether.
