I've thought about it. I think during my next physical, I will have them do a full lung workup. I'm lucky in that my wife is a doctor so I have access but I wonder if insurance would cover such a workup without a real reason to do it; I.e. No symptoms. It's not part of a preventive care package. I imagine you can pay out of pocket but it would be expensive...

I had pneumonia just recently and had MRIs done on my chest. I smoked for 20 years and I'm 42 years old. After 1 year and 8 months of vaping, there are trace hints of damage to my lungs as of last month. My doctor equated the damage to 1 or 2 years of smoking. In 3 years, there will be almost no evidence that I ever smoked. I was a pack a day guy. I also have a cardiologist that supports my decision to vape. He's from Germany.

I had a chest x-ray done a couple of years back while I still smoked. They didn't see any damage at all back then and I was on my 19-20th year of smoking (been in it for throat hit all along). I'll try to remember and report back next time I have a chest x-ray if I ever need one. I do inhale more now that I vape, but I also breathe a lot better when I exercise. Not expecting any bad news, but I'll pay close attention now that the question is out.

Yup me too. got inspection when I was in my 14th year of smoking, doctor cleared. but now im in my 20th year, should be doing one again. how ever my worry is, they said if you quit smoking altogether, there be be risk that your body cannot adapt to the changes, and the immune system starts to rumble and problems will happened. Been hearing old timers telling of friends who DIED after quitting.. Scary..

More Rumor and old tales.
Body becomes stronger and healthier. About the only thing I can see as a negative is putting up with Allergies which were there, but suppressed.

I had CAT scan, MRI, X-ray, & physically examined of my lungs. If I could show my results, then only then people would see vaping is an alternative healthy way than smoking.

Edit: Only thing I could worry about from vaping would be damages from teeth degrading.
huh?? teeth degrading? how does vaping do that? is this another myth?

Well wait a minute now. I'm going by theory, not assumption. Here's why... if a tank (plastic mostly) can be cracked based on acidic substance in the juice, then one would wonder what would it do to teeth, you know?

Acidity has nothing to do with cracking/melting plastic tanks. It's a chemical reaction between the particular ingredients in e-liquid and certain types of plastic. That chemical reaction doesn't take place in the human body.

If it was the acidity, people who eat/drink citrus, high acidic fruits, cinnamon, ginger, sour flavors, cola/root beer, bananas etc, wouldn't have any teeth left. ;)

Oh, SNAP! Wonder how that relates to dentures?
It doesn't. :)

I've been vaping for a while now and this year is the first time i've ever had mild hay-fever. It never occurred to me that it could be down to the lack of anesthetics and poisons from smoking. Food for thought...

Actually there are some acids that leach calcium from bones and teeth. Of the top of my head there's the ones found in many sodas and vinegar. My dentist told me this.

My dentist also told me that smoking causes dry mouth, which makes for most favorable conditions for plaque. Vaping is worse as it's also dehydrating. So, another reason why you want to drink plenty of water while you vape.

Yes but the liquid is in direct contact with the tank it is not in contact with your teeth.

That's not so bad... my hay fever went up the roof after I quit smoking. Luckily, I found a "cure" for it 20 years ago (about when I started smoking); Bee's pollen. Eat a whole bottle worth of it (60 pills or about 200 grams in granular form) in a day - and I insist in a single day. It's not a fun day because you won't eat much else, but it is really worth it. I know how it sounds, (and I also know how the next part sounds even stupider) but the cheaper stuff works even better for me. I had been hay fever free for 20 years and have now cured 98% of it again with the same treatment. I did have to try a few different brands this time around as the stuff is harder to find, especially the less expensive one. If you have hay fever, try it. I once had to hope I wouldn't get in a car accident because of hay fever. Now I pity people who can't stand the outdoors without medication.
