Ok, so my main interests (family stuff aside) are art journaling / mixed media art and vaping.
Most of my extra spending money goes to those two things...so clothes are a little lower on the priority list for spending. But...I love clothes and have found a bunch of nice, almost new or new clothes at places like Goodwill. Most days, I walk out with nothing. Other days, like today, the daughters and I hit the jackpot and come out with bags filled to the brim.

I found 16 blouses for work and going out...all from either The Buckle, The Limited or Fossil. It looks like they were donated by the same person as they were all on the same rack (not put out with the other clothes yet). I felt NIRVANA! Almost as wonderful as the feeling that I felt finding a Drexel Heritage table (looked brand new) for my art studio for $50 at Goodwill and the price sheet sticker of $599.00 was still underneath the the drawer.

Anyone appreciate? Today was a GREAT day. I love bargains....

I don't go out to the 2nd hand stores as much as I should. My daughter goes often and told me about one in the next town over which she says has a lot of good quality clothes. I just need to stay away from dishes and other kitchen stuff - I have a very small kitchen with hardly any counter space, so their is no more room for anything more!

Score! Don't you just love when that happens?? Its been awhile for me, but the last great find i had were several beautifully hand-knit tops. One is very lacy looking in pure silk, the others have the feel and wear of cashmere. I am still thrilled at those tops!

Contessa, I'd love to chat with you about your mixed media work..... I'm a quilter with a short attention span and a habit of collecting shiny things, I've been wanting to branch out to doing some smaller landscape/altered cloth and mixed media. What kinds of things do.you do?

I do art journaling, collage art, artist trading cards (perfect for using tiny shiny things on), mail art (postcards and altered envelopes)...thus the name Junquemail Contessa. I have a short attention span too...so I never work on anything too large.

Go to Flickr, in the search box type "Fabric Artist Trading Card" and you will see a ton of examples using materials you may already have on hand being a quilter and collector of shiny goodness.

I've been told to stay away from organizational stuff like baskets, crates and cute boxes! :) The more things I get to store stuff in...the more stuff I get to fill the storage stuff with.

...you can find good deals if your willing to spend the time to look. You really lucked out on work shopping!

Every other Saturday we make the rounds to two different Goodwill stores in our area. I say, between the two, we spend about 3 hours looking through the racks. The new one is just outside an extremely well to do part of our town and it's unbelievable how much people spend retail...to never wear the clothes and then just donate them. Not complaining....I'll pay $3.00 for a blouse they spent $60 on and never wore.
