Thanks for steering me this way Erik...you and PapaJeep saw a pic or two of mine in another thread.

Mine's a '96 ZJ, bought it from my parents after they put a new transmission in it at about 72k miles. Other than that, it was definitely babied. Not anymore :D

5.2 v8
Swapped in a 242 transfer case
Axles regeared to 4.56:1
Aussie lunchbox locker in the rear aluminum D44
Sliders are from Kevins Offroad, same with the rear bumper (no action pics of that yet, it just got installed), also the front radiator support/recovery points.
4.5" RE coils
Clayton Offroad longarms front and rear
Kevins Offroad/JKS front trackbar with drop bracket
Steering box replaced with a 4-bolt box from a Grand Waggy, 80s vintage if I remember correctly.
Steering box brace from Kevin's
15x8 Cragar Soft-8 rims wrapped in 33x12.50-15 Kumho KL71s

35s are in its future, probably BFG KM2s. Kumho prices have skyrocketed :(

Picture%20333%20[800x600].jpg

Here's a video from Hell's Gate a few years back - I had to clean the seat after that one :D

Before that, I had a '96 XJ, sold it for $4k and signed the cashier's check over to my folks :)
My first vehicle ever was a '67 CJ-5 with the dauntless...dang I miss that turkey. I was under the hood more than I was in the driver seat, but I loved it.

Wow, you've got a very nice setup, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous! I also swapped a 242 case in mine because the 249 was shot. I like the 242 much better anyways. I also swapped the right shift plate in it and did the plug behind the vic so if you didn't know better you'd think it was stock. I was considering getting a JKS trackbar for mine as well, but have been checking out the ones from IRO (ironrockoffroad). They seem pretty well made. All I need is trackbars and endlinks/discos and I can go up to my 3.5" coils. I can't wait to see how those bilstein 5100 series shocks ride. Right now I've got RE's in the front and a cheap pair of Rancho's in the rear. It needs some work before I'll be able to lift it more. The original radiator with 159k on it is starting to finally give out and leak some, along with some other normal wear and tear items. Money's been pretty tight lately so I haven't been able to do what I want with it in a while. I haven't watched your video yet, going to watch it right now. Thanks for sharing, that's a nice rig you've got there!

Thanks!

I've had good luck with IRO stuff that others have put on their rigs. Their longarm system is well built and pretty easy to install, their steering is good too.

Next thing in the hopper is 1-ton steering from RuffStuff - my secondhand Currie steering has bitten the dust, so time to upgrade :D

My Jeep used to eat radiators for breakfast. I was getting them from Radiator Barn, so they had a lifetime warranty, but I got fed up needing to use the warranty. Went through 3 of those, and I got down to 1 hour drain, replace fill in the driveway. Not exactly a skill I was happy to have ;)

Went with a radiator from Denver Radiator, and haven't had a problem since.

One other thing I forgot is I did a Taurus e-fan swap using a temperature controller from DC Controls. No more mechanical fan.

00' XJ that I haven't done anything to. Its got heated mirrors, stock radio, brand new snow tread tires. It got a brand new radiator around two months ago from the person I bought it from. It's staying in the middle on the thermometer. No cracked heads, block, or gasket. Pretty strong acceleration. Brand new beefy aluminum rims. Interior is cleaaan. Tons of space for scrapping metal. Air works fantastic for an old XJ. 4wD like a BEAST through whatever the hell I want to drive through. Goes up and down curbs when turning left out of a parking lot with a line of cars waiting for the red light well. XD Can get out of a pit of mud in my woods without any help as long as I'm driving smart. ;D Engine is clean looking. Has privacy tints....

Except for the front window. (grr lol) Tracks a bit to the left. Driver's side front speaker has water damage & doesn't work. Radio seems like it doesn't go past 8-9 on a scale of 1-10. lol. Headlights don't turn off on their own. (lol! damnit!) Heat takes forever to work. (200) Has a couple oil leaks in the undercarriage. Fraying battery lead wires. Sometimes it shakes when I first put it in drive till it catches. Once it reaches 60 it doesn't like to shift into 3rd (3rd?) for 5-6 seconds, then it goes into WARP SPEED! Chips in the hood's paint. Rust preventative sprayed on undercarriage.

Its my first vehicle and I love it like a son. <3 If I can help it, I will always have a Jeep.
I love my baby. He's a monster. Pics to come. Glad to be here.

Nice rides guys. I see we have another Tennessean here. I'm just north of Nashville, Maybe we can get together for a ride sometime.

That would be awesome. Where do you usually ride? I'm primarily with Midsouth Jeeps - and for the most part we bounce back and forth between Superlift, SMORR and HP. I've also got a few friends in West Tennessee Offroad club out of Jackson. I'm also itching to go back to Turkey Bay.

If anyone read my post and has an idea as to whats wrong with my transmission, lmk. I can probably get it fixed if it doesn't need a whole new transmission.

You have to check the fluid with it up to full temp, running in neutral. You're supposed to drive it til it's fully warmed up, park on level ground, put it in reverse for about 3 seconds, then neutral, then drive act then back to neutral. Let it idle in neutral for a couple of minutes then check the level. Sorry if you've already done this. If the fluid is good I would try to change the fluid and filter first. Always start with the easiest and cheapest first.

Plumes, if your post was in another thread, I may have missed it - getting familiar with a new-to-me massive forum is a daunting task to say the least

Got a link to another thread or maybe a Cliffs Notes here? What's going on?

A three Jeep Family......NICE!

My daughter was wheeling mine when she was 13 (she one helluva spotter now). And she always said she was going to have a Jeep for her first car. She actually saved up the money, and bought that Jeep herself when she turned 16. We added a lift and 34" tires right after she bought it
