A friend has a couple of Vaperite's tobaccos, and I got to try them yesterday... the Flue Cured Virginia (or something like that) definitely had that strange spiciness to it for me

I can't stand that flavor either, that spiciness / aroma is too much for me too. I found it in BWBs Virginia also.

Their Rous Hazlenut is by far the best, Plain Organic or House Extract is good, Organic RY4 (or was it VR4) is good. I think you might like those far better it's a plain tobacco base, none of that spice flavor.

The rest have unique flavors more like an acquired taste and best bet is to try them as samplers. 777 I liked also it's mellow with some hint of lemon or similar, not sweet. APV wasn't bad it's a plum flavor, somewhat bitter with very light sweet finish. Western was ok nothing special. Virginia, Perique, Burley have more of that spice type flavor though Virginia was by far the most pungent thing I've tried.

Thanks for all the great suggestions and mini reviews so far.

I liked pipe smoking occasionally back in the day to mellow out with friends on a porch in the evenings, but it was never "English" tobacco... my guess is it was cheap cherry or peach, or I tried to caramel and alcohol mix flavors from small pipe shops or those places like the briar patch.

The organic plain tobacco sounds promising, so does the Tennessee.

I just made an order with juicy vapor for a bunch of other stuff and got samples of the pipe tobacco, wake n vape, and torrone nougat tobacco to try out. Most likely, I'll think they're sick lol, so you can PM me if you want to try them after I do.

I'm definitely going to try out the Rou's Hazelnut. I'll make a point of picking that as one of the free samples next time I order from VR.

You have me wondering if it's the 'Virginia' aspect that adds the spicy flavor. After tasting the VR Flue Cured Virgina, I just assumed that it was the 'flue cured' part was what was ruining it for me... but if BWB Virginia has it too, maybe it's a Virginia thing?

I'll have to do a little research before investing in more tobacco flavors, so I know what to watch out for.

I suspect your Virginia needs to steep for a week or two. Generally 'Virginia' is a mellow, middle of the road, classic cigarette tobacco flavor.

Then either the curing process used or something else is added to modify the flavor. When it sat for a month or 2 it got even more pungent than the day I got it. It was so bad other people in the house complained. It literally stank up the entire house with that spice type aroma and lingered, I could clearly smell it walking from room to room myself.

I'm a huge fan of the VapeRite tobaccos, but there's something about the flue cured Virginian that makes me not like it by itself, works as a mixer for me. My wife (OTOH) loves it and says "I can taste the smoke from the curing". She gags on one of my favorites, the natural Perique, says it "tastes like swamp water" to which I reply, "you say that like its a bad thing....". And so it goes.

ps-got a sample of the peach organic with my last order and wow does it hit the spot for me. Not very sweet, dark, ripe (almost like a brandied peach).

@Joe - a solid peach flavor? Yet another reason to try Vaperite.

I'm definitely going to steer clear of the Virginias based on these comments in my experimentation with tobacco juices. I will say that I don't think it's the Virginia aspect adding the spiciness... it seems that most vendors add that element trying to mimic most tobaccos. For instance, I always liked turkish real tobacco, but all the juices add that crazy spiciness to it and I can't stand them.

KBV - has anyone tried there tobaccos? I'm slowly acclimating myself to Special K... it's a very hard flavor to describe, but I mixed it with a Caramel Apple just in a carto, and I almost felt like I was really smoking, it was kind of bizarre. And it's stronger, has more of a punch you know, so unlike fruity flavors you don't feel like sucking on it forever... a shorter vape session really hits the spot.

Personally, I thought the Vaprite organic tobacco's tasted like stale dirty sock/dirty mop water -even the peach tobacco tasted rotton -they even smell stale when the bottle is opened and pretty much taste like they smell -just not for me at all! Vapenstien Stockholm is good, but the London tasted like a dirty ashtray to me. Alien Visions Boba'ls Bounty and Flue Cured are fantastic tobacco flavors! I have some BWB tobacco flavors on the way. That's my 2 cents worth. :)

That's really bizarre. Sounds like someone made a boo-boo back at the mixing shed.

I make DIY Virginia with FlavourArt flavoring and it smells (and tastes) pretty bad for the first month or so but after about 2 months or so it's quite good. Makes a good base to use in flavored tobacco juice.

That is the very sensation, taste, and smell I had from a liquid I ordered from HouseofVapors and reordered it and nothing like the first.
When I smoked, I remembered smelling a freshly-opened pack of cigarettes and thinking, "Mmmm... that smells great. I wish the smoke could taste like that!"

Well, with vaping it can.

The apple mix reminded me of another good, non-spicy tobacco that I've had. Vermillion River. They have an inexpensive little sampler pack. In mine I got the Kentucky Applewood Blend and the Kentucky Vanilla Blend. Both were quite good. On the Applewood the tobacco has a nice, mellow flavor and the apple part is pretty subtle... not at all like a fake candy apple flavor IMO. It's a cheap way to try some tobacco flavors (and other types), and personally, I thought that everything that I got from them was good. (If you like coffee flavors, the caramel cappuccino is worth checking out too IMO).

Not a true pipe tobacco, but emulates the experience none the less for me is Johnson Creek's Red Oak™ Smoke Juice - Marcado™.

The blend of natural tasting cinnamon and clove, with a hint of wood notes offer a warm and soothing pipe experience. I can't wait to vape Marcado in my new pipe from ePipeMods.

Been there, Dharma, know how you feel.

Try Johnson Creek Domestic or JC Original.

I had JC's Domestic & Original, but liked their Red Oak Tennessee Cured better. Strong, smoky flavor & sweet, pipe like? You may want to try this. It's a little too sweet for me, but I like it once in a while.

No offense to FSUSA fans, but I tried their Purecig & Outlaw, Rider & Wyatt Earp, pepper juice! Not tobacco to me. Spicy chemical, ha ha! I vape genuine Dekang tobacco flavors, good tobacco taste but no smokiness.
