My car's Kenwood head unit complained when I tried to power my PT through it. But, no problems with either my desktop or notebook. Although, some warn against it as a hazard to your computer ... I think the risk is minimal considering the one or two incidents reported. I've got a power port (cigarette lighter) USB adapter which works well in the car.

I've got a Kensington Power Pack, which also works well.

The question is, is it worth the price of your PC if the PT blows the USP port?
That's the reason many of us buy the wall adapter (AC/USB) - my PT costs $15, and the adapater around 5-10 - my PC is worth 10 times that - no brainer there in my book lol

As for a non working PT - I run over the cable all the time with my chair - stupid short cable - even worse with extension cord though lol - and I think I broke mine too - battery on my 3.v was fine (switched it out and it still didnt work but they are cheap so Ill get a new one). Luckily I have a 5v to carry me over :)

I've been considering purchasing a pt setup for vaping at the pc. I wonder why your computer's usb port wouldn't power the pt? Mine charges up my pcc and a spare battery inside the pcc with no problems... does the pt draw more power than charging two items from the same usb port?
Yes, my computer usb ports will charge my pcc and anything else I've used it to charge, but no luck with the pt, so I assume that it does draw more power.

my PT needs 1300mA to work properly, so if yours is anything like mine, your usb port in your computer may not supply enough. saying that, mine works in both my dell laptops but haven't found a high enough usb mains adaptor in the uk yet.

to be on the safe side, i bought a mains powered usb hub. only cost me around $10. just has to supply 2000mA per port, most only do 500mA which won't work
