Any runners in the group? Differences in lung capacity?

Hey all- I'm full of random questions tonight  are any of you runners? This was a main reason that I started trying to quit my cigs in the first place. I guess I wanted to see if you regained any cardio or lung capacity by switching? Or did ecigs still keep you tight in the chest... I do the various mud runs and rarely put in over 5 miles, so it's not a vital performance based issue, just hoping I might get some improvements in endurance!

I'm not a runner, but I cycle a lot. I quit analogs almost 2 years ago an definitely felt an improvement. The improvement seemed to peak about a year or more ago, but it was significant. I'm an old fart with over 40 years of analogs to clear out, so I don't expect to cycle any gran prixs, but yeah, there's definite improvement. I can't wait to go scuba diving again. Last time I went, a few years ago, I ran out of air in 1/2 the time as my health-nazi, non-smoking diving buddy. He wasn't amused.

I'm a runner swimmer and occasional biker.... I'm hoping to see some significant improvements.....I quit smoking for 8yrs and took up running in that time, then about 4yrs ago I started smoking again ( ya ya I know) I been trying to quit ever since.....one of the biggest reasons was to be able to run like I use to..... I miss it lol. So... Ya I already notice a difference and it's only been a few days so I'm stoked!

I get 6 monthly chest x-rays for a previous medical condition and last week went to the hospital and had one done. This was the first one since giving up so, out of interest, I asked the doctor if she could see any physical difference from my previous x ray.
She said that although they weren't concentrating on my lungs, she could see that my left lung did appear to have more capacity.
I saw the results for myself and it did appear that my left lung capacity was visibly bigger than my july x ray!!!

I was as pleased with that as my actual result!!!

So there you have it.... medical FACT!!!
