Am I late to the party or is this a new thing? I saw when Kanger came out with the subbox kit it has the Subtank mini with the new air flow ring and new RBA. Anyone have any experience with this? I have tried a lot of other tanks and keep coming back to my Subtank because to me it's just that good. Then they came out with the black on with more airflow options and a new RBA and I thought I had to have it but it only came in a kit, doh!

Well now it's for sale on its own and I'm debating pulling the trigger but want to see if anyone has an experience with it compared to the original. I'm sold on the new RBA with the oring instead of screw base as well as the much larger juice channels (well, holes hah) but what I'm curious about is the airflow. I've always thought the Subtank mini could use a bit more air to be able to handle some more power and now it looks like they've listened to my thoughts. Is it as good as I hope it to be? Any noticeable improvement in airflow? Does it allow you to pumpa a little more power into the coil? Kinda wondering if anyone has built on the RBA and swapped it between the original Subtank Mini and the new one to see if there's any differences in airflow, flavor, or if you can get more power to it without burning it. Thoughts anyone?

This has been subject to a lot of debate in the subox thread. If your current subtank has the dual airflow controller than the difference isn't huge. If your current subtank has the older single hole airflow controller than the difference is significant. I think it offers more airflow but has the same internal constriction for the amount of air you can pull through the coil/RBA head itself. The RBA is significantly better on all fronts, better flavor, bigger clouds and no wicking issues. I am on the side of the arguement that says the airflow is imroved but many say they can't feel a difference.

The difference in the new stock coil heads is huge but you can buy the new coil heads and put them in your old subtank so that may not be huge. You can also buy the new RBA seperate and the airflow controller so if you aren't looking for an extra tank you can basically turn your old subtank into the new subtank minus the color. For someone who has never used a subtank I highly recommend it but for someone comparing apples to apples the differences in the tank itself aren't huge.

New coil heads? Hadn't heard about those, can you elaborate?

I have the original Subtank Mini with the single air flow hole which is one reason why I was interested in the new one. I also like the idea of having a matching black tank with my black mod but that's superficial.

As for the base, can you get it anywhere but Fasttech? I've never ordered from there but have heard on many more than one occasion that shipping takes weeks to get over here to the states so I'd like to avoid them if possible. Then again, I could just order a new black one and have the old one for backup or another device hah I'm addicted to this crap, I just ordered a Mutation X V4 this morning to try because it looked good and had good reviews even though I've got 4 RDA's at home that I'm perfectly happy with. I often wonder if I'm wasting my money lol

If you use them all and enjoy them, then you are not wasting money. I make sure to shuffle all my mods and use them all so they feel loved, and I feel better about myself.

That's the first step toward recovery. Jim

You're assuming I want to recover!!!

I do enjoy them and have recently been investing in getting more mod's to power them all so I'm not constantly swapping. I have an IPV mini 2 for work and around town and a Hades and IPV4 for home along with several tanks and rda's. Gotta love it!

Back on topic, I wonder if this is the new Subtank mini:

Kanger Subtank Mini Glass Clearomizer - 4.5ml Set - $30.00 : Rocky Mountain Vapor, The Mountain top of Electronic Cigarettes

Description doesn't make it seem like it and the pics leave much to be desired so I can't tell. If it is, and with the SUMMER15 coupon giving 25% off and free shipping, I may add to my addiction haha

I would just buy a new one if there is no budget concerns. I'm sure someone can tell you somewhere besides fasttech but that is the only place I can think of that has them. I always cater my answer to those on a tight budget unless I know they share the addiction. The new tanks also look slick on almost any mod.

The new coil heads are vertical coil build and can take 15-60 watts. They have a larger juice hole and seem to provide much better flavor. The old heads max out at 30 watts and use a thinner gauge wire in the coil.

I just got a Mutation X v3 with the glass top the other day, I really like it and will probably get a V4 now that I've built on it. The post set up is really easy to build on and the deck gives a ton of space to work with. You should be happy with the purchase.

Did some looking on the new coil heads, they certainly look like they're worth a try. Hope my local B&M stocks them although I doubt they do. Great stores locally but usually a month or so behind the newest stuff.

It is the old one, it comes with the new airflow control but the old style coil and RBA.

Hmm almost worth trying...almost.

You're talking to a fellow addict, my friend. My ex-wife collected plates that we couldn't even eat off of. We all have our demons :)

VAA (Vapor Addicts Anonymous) meets are held weekly here, new members are always welcome! haha

I have that new subtank mini. I'm a toddle puffer, so I'll give my opinion from that viewpoint. First, I use the smallest hole setting, so the extra airflow means nothing to me. I will say that I really like the rda base. I build it very much like my kayfun but it puts out a little more vapor. I only have the one base so far, but plan to order more because I think it will be great to have several already built and standing by ready to be swapped in.

I believe you are the only one. I read every post I see about the subox kits and the new tanks and as far as I can remember you are the first person I can recall saying that.
I have both old and new and while I really can't perceive a difference in flavor, the new vertical coils with the larger wick holes are head and shoulders better than the old style horizontal coils. The larger wick holes allows you to run the coils at much higher wattages. With the old style coils, I have to keep it below 30 watts otherwise I start getting a burnt taste. With these new coils, the burnt taste doesn't start creeping in until I start vaping it at 50 watts. My sweet spot for these new coils are 40 watts. And the vapor production is now on par with the Atlantis.

Yeah with regards to the airflow....

I have one of the Subtanks that has the air holes on each side of the air control valve, and my partner has the Subtank that has only one opening on the air control valve.

To be honest, I didn't even notice that mine had two air openings until when I was trying to prime it and put my finger over the opening and was still able to suck air through, that's the first time that I noticed there was an opening on both sides of the valve. But when I was using my partners I couldn't even tell the difference between his older style tank and my newer style tank with regards to the air flow.

My guess on that is that they are still limited by the driptip and chimney and that one opening can still provide as much air as can pass through the chimney and or drip tip opening (which is really no wider than the stock drip tips on my Nautilus, AeroTank etc, it just looks like a fatty but it's still restricted down inside of it).

I'll still buy the black one simply because it should look pretty nice on my black eleaf 50w but I'm thinking the only major difference that *I* will experience will be that opening the RBA will be easier (assuming I have a screwdriver handy) than it has been trying to unscrew it sometimes.

This is my experience as well. The flavor to me is vastly different based on wattage, I don't know if it is more or less flavor but the wider range of wattage gives me more flavor options.

Yeah no matter how wide the top of the tip is the bottom is still a 510 and with subtanks the coil seems to be where the airflow constriction occurs. As I type this I am puffing on three subtanks to compare them. One has old coil and two airflows one has new vertical coil with one airflow hole and one has two airflows and new vertical coil. The new coils seem to allow a bit more airflow but with the new coil the single air hole and dual airflow seem about the same.
