Now that I've ordered a kit from Apollo, I was browsing through their e-juice varieties when I spotted clove flavor. I've heard of clove cigarettes, but I admit I don't know much about them or ever tried one. I was thinking about taking a chance on this, but it would be helpful to hear from anyone who's used clove flavor, and it doesn't have to be from Apollo.

Thanks!

While I was waiting for replies, I was researching clove cigarettes in general, and I came across something rather intriguing: it has been said that smoking clove cigs numbs the throat and/or tongue, due to some anesthetic properties inherent in cloves. Does anyone know if this is indeed true?

I'm also wondering whether that same effect might also be present in the e-juice.

I smoked Djarum (various versions of it) for about 11 years before I quit. I tried the Kretek from Tasty Vapor and it was decent after steeping for about a month. after that it seems to have gone stale. I wouldn't say it tastes like a clove cigarette, but it tastes more like how a fresh back of clove cigs smelled. I've heard someone say the Clove Black from Mount Bakers tastes like Djarum Blacks. I haven't tried this yet myself.

MBV's clove is pretty tasty if you like clove flavor. Have you ever had that clove chewing gum made by the same folks that made Black Jack gum? It's a bit more like that. Not as in your face as a clove cigarette, and it doesn't leave clove oil on your lips the way a djarum does (unless you have a leaky cart :p).

I hadn't let it steep long when I tried it tho, and it's due for another taste. Loading up a dripper right now and....

It smells quite nice in the bottle. Vape is just a light, smooth, clean clove. I could be sucking on a sprig of clove for all my taste buds know. Steeping didn't change the taste much. Probably should have cleaned my atty first, there's a bit of Dream Tea taste chasing it. They actually go really well together tho!

I have a 50 ml bottle of Mt Baker Vapor's clove e-juice. It's an absolutely authentic-tasting clove. And it does have those anesthetic properties you're talking about. Plus tremendous throat hit.

I don't normally vape it alone -- I add it to other flavors. MBV Clove plus MBV Vanilla Tobacco makes for a very authentic clove cigarette experience.

Thanks, guys, for all the information; I think I'll take a chance and order a small sampler bottle.

I have some clove from vaping zone and man is that strong stuff. No way I can vape it stand alone and it overwhelms anything I put it in. And the flavor stays so you need to dedicate to it. I loved clove cigs and clove in food but this was really more than I expected.

Guess I'll have to make sure to dedicate a carto just to this juice to avoid cross contamination.

the blacks clove ciggs really do numb your tongue and throat. its quite interesting iv heard of native Americans smoking clove ciggs as a sore throat remedy. a clove cig is about 3/4 tobacco 1/4 clove flavored with vanilla extract and a pinch of nutmeg if im remembering correctly iv looked up how to make them not that long ago. as far as e-juice goes for them i haven't tried any but maybe now i will.

edit: and who can forget the iconic crackling noise when u smoke them from the clove oil popping.

I first encountered them in the early 90's, when I first started smoking. I never tried them, but I remember them being popular with kids at the time.

I've ordered a small sample bottle to give it a try, I'm just curious, more than anything else. And who knows? Perhaps I will have discovered another flavor to add to my collection. I am somewhat concerned about the numbing effect, from a medical standpoint, as it actually carries some very real risks; that much I do know for sure, but we'll see.

While I'm inherently partial to menthol, due to my many years of smoking Newports, I'm beginning to consider other flavors. I draw the line at flavors like cherry, though; strikes me as too much for kids or young girls!

lmao its so funny you used that quote because its so true, it is very rare to see a black person smoking something other then newports and i hate to sound racist but its so true i used to be a newport smokers myself nothing else compared

Briefly going OT, I hear you. It's something that no one can explain, but it IS funny, I know. And don't worry, I didn't take it the wrong way.

I used to smoke Specials and Blacks before they changed the wrapping to get around the "Phillip Morris" law. After that I smoked blacks and black vanillas. This was my first question as well when I made the switch. Loved the Tasty Vapor kretek at first but you must take it out of the plastic bottle Immediately! ! Store/steep it in a glass bottle.

The second bottle I got just really didnt do it for me. I have also gotten the clove from Aroma Ejuice both with and without the WTA. I like it better, but I still have some TV kretek steeping so ill give it another shot.

In my limited vaping experience, what I've found is that NO juice is the same as a good Djarum black however, I bought a pack after vaping for a while and couldnt stand the flavor of them.

What I think is missing in the clove e liquid is the slight sweetness. The ones I've had are just way too clove forward of a taste. I cut ny kretek down with some ultimate vanilla and that has made it pretty tasty.

I've since given up on trying to find a juice that fits the bill for replacement of a Djarum. My favorite currently is TV Burmanii.

Hey Doc!

Be careful if you put clove flavored e-juice in a plastic tank. Clove oil has been known to interact with the tanks...sometimes cracking and melting them. I'd recommend using a glass tank with any clove e-juice, if you can.... ;)

Yikes! Jeez, what's in that stuff anyway, that it's interacting with the plastic???

Guess I'll have to pickup a glass bottle somewhere, any suggestions as to where to buy them the same size as the 7ml bottles that the samples come in?
