Just my opinion, but if you don't smoke then please don't start vaping! Nicotine is more addictive than crack, and anything that takes you one step closer to the possibility of smoking tobacco is something to avoid like the plague.

But even if vaping doesn't lead to smoking or cancer, consider that twice as many people die from chronic lung disease (COPD) than from lung cancer. It's the fourth leading cause of death in the world, right up there with heart attack and stroke. COPD (chronic bronchitis, emphysema, etc.) can seriously impact quality of life for many years after middle-age. COPD is caused by long-term exposure to irritants such as smoke, smog, chemical fumes, and dust. So far we don't know the effects of long-term vaping of high concentrations of PG/VG/flavorings. But certainly there's some evidence to suggest that it's a respiratory irritant, which could contribute to COPD in the long run. So I would say for a non-smoker, it's not worth the risk. If you want to enjoy your old age, eat healthy, exercise, and breathe clean air!

Please visit the website for CASAA and do some research on the studies listed there. Also there are numerous threads in this forum that would be of interested to you. Many people with onset COPD have experienced improved lung function after they started vaping. This fact was confirmed by their doctors.

@RosaJ, I've already done a lot of research, but I appreciate your comment.

To be clear, I think that anyone currently smoking cigarettes should immediately switch to vaping, especially if they have COPD symptoms. There's no question that it would lead to better health outcomes. I fully support all the initiatives to fight the new laws restricting vaping.

But people experienced improved lung function because they quit smoking, not because they started vaping. I don't think anyone in their right mind would suggest to a non-smoker diagnosed with COPD, to take up vaping in order to improve their health.

I also think it's irresponsible to encourage young people who have never smoked, to start vaping. Even if the nicotine in e-liquid is less addictive than cigarettes, it's not sensible to assume that it's not addictive at all. And there just aren't any long-term studies of the effects of inhaling concentrated vapors of propylene glycol etc., over the period of a lifetime. Any of the current studies showing "minimal risk" are careful to point that out. There are several studies that show PG to be a respiratory irritant, and I know it is for me, and that's a fairly common thing to hear people complain about in this forum. Perhaps it's no more dangerous than drinking soda. On the other hand, I've been smoking for 35 years, and so far haven't noticed any bad effects. That doesn't mean there aren't going to be any.

Again it's just the opinion of someone who's grateful to have a fighting chance to give up cigarettes, but really would prefer not to be inhaling anything at all:

Smokers: quit or switch to vaping, NOW!
Non-smokers: stay that way!

Im not so sure about that. Latest studies on nicotine show improvement in patients with Alzheimers and Parkinsons. That is just the beginning. Im starting to wonder if nicotine hasnt been demonized to the same extent as ..........

For a couple months now i have vaped 0% nic juice I mix myself. However, the last couple weeks since I found out about the studies, I keep a tank with 12% 100mg/ml nicotine. I hit this in the morning if I am still groggy when I leave for work. Kinda like my morning cup of coffee, just one and no cravings throughout day, no desire for more. It is just useful for those certain days. I seriously am starting to believe I have been lied to about nic same as weed.

I read an article a long while ago (I believe in discover magazine) that stated that nicotine alone had pretty much all the same effects on the human body as coffee, with one main difference: nicotine helps build blood channels a lot faster than usual. The article was specific that research had proven that nicotine does NOT cause cancer, but can greatly helps cancer growths by making blood vessels grow really fast towards where the demand is. Helping with Alzheimers and Parkinsons could be a way to see this in another light.

Perhaps vaping some nicotine could help with many diseases that involve a blood flow problem. I ain't no doctor, but if the information I remember is correct, it is definitely worth a lot of investigation. One of the hurdles if going over the fact that one of the first anesthesia method was using ....... and they took a while to realize patients got addicted. Then again, aren't we still using morphine to help with some long term problems nowadays?
