+1 With what Sterno says. Is it better than Short Stop, I dunno. Spring is compressed with it installed but have not encountered any problems. Well, I am not aware of any shorts so its like getting a flu shot and not coming down with one. Did the flu shot work?

Best to meter, I do it, so its like double protection. I meter with atty installed, remove batt(s), pos lead to firing pin, neg to ground on mod. This will provide as complete a systems check as possible. Fuse gives me second life if I forget to meter :). Btw, if your meter readings should bounce around a bit, I wouldn't use the atty. Reading should settle down in a few seconds, just my two cents

I've been using the shortstop for about 3 months, bought 2, but still have one in the package. No issues with it that I can see, the spring is compressed a "bit" but there's still room for a collapse.

I've had it "trip" a couple of times, despite metering, but giving it about a minute to reset and all is well. I have spare springs too, but honestly don't think I'll ever need them.

Other than your atty, the center post flat washer may be the culprit. Thats why I like metering the way I do too.
