sounds like your spring may be compressed a little bit, maybe you had a small short once, if so you may try giving it a little stretch to beef it back up a little bit so your contact points are a little stronger and your batt is held in a bit tighter, go easy on it pulling upward, just takes a little bit, just a thought.

Sometimes when I drag my Grand it gives a very weak or no pull, I slide the cover down and give my battery a twist and the next hit is big and full. This can even happen with newly charged battery, not all the time but more then every now and then. Anybody experience the same?? Thanks.

I had that happen. Try giving the firing pin a good cleaning with a Qtip dipped in alcohol. Add a small dab of noalox.

Clean the firing pin the very point you wont have the issue any more. Don't be afraid to run hot water over the hole were the firing pin rests. I cant tell you how many times people send there mods to me with this complaint I run it under hot water blow the mod off and its vaping like new. Margie your a ninja :)

Yep...what Rob says. I am one of the dimwits who sent my Grand to him because it was doing just that....and he found nothing wrong with it after he cleaned it and doped it up with Noalox. Now I do that myself and it purrs like a kitten. Lesson learned....now I keep them all clean all by myself without having to send any of them on a little trip to Maine. :)

I wouldn't call you a dimwit . Once you understand how the mod runs and how to maintain the mod its simple .When I first started playing with mechanical switches I was a noob to the maintenance .If you remember correctly the early mini and grands had a flat firing pin. After some studying and asking ?s to folks with more knowledge then I have I changed the system

Rob, can you make a video tutorial the next time such a Reo arrives in your Reo hospital?

There are thousands of videos online, which show us a new device in a review. But there are only a few videos from long time users, which show you, how to solve day to day problems. For example, it says to apply Noalox to threads or Vaseline to the GGTS o-rings. And I produce there always a mess. How much to apply? With your finger? With a cotton tip? With a tooth pic?

Just to drop you a quick answer...you apply with a toothpick....and a very small amount.

If you look at the positive battery contact under the button...you can see where the Noalox goes.

This is a common problem with all low voltage devices. Oxidation and poor contact are the offenders. Noalox is the fix for oxidation and spring pressure adjustment takes care of the force issue with the batteries.

It's no different than that flashlight that dims and then brightens up when you unscrew the battery cap a half turn and re-tighten it.

Looks like that 1 could use a little cleaning too Rhap! :) think you even got some hair in there curly hair!

Funny...I always think the same thing when looking at that picture! I have two dogs and a cat, so no surface in this house is safe!

3 day suspension!... oh, I thought that was a "momma's" REO.

What happens to the tip of the firing pin after a lot of use? Will the oxidation (rust) still conduct electricity? Should a small, fine file be used to clean off the oxidation? If so, how will we know when?

Shouldn't ever need that. Just a cleaning if the performance lags, and a small dab of noalox. I used to clean my REO weekly, but lately it's been monthly.
