Anybody here never smoked, but started vaping for some other reason?

I was at a social gathering this weekend with a few dozen dear old friends and of course my vaping caught everyone's attention. Being a one is never enough kinda guy, I had six rigs in my pocket, all with a different juice in it. They started getting passed around the room and probably half the people there tried it. Plenty of coughing, laughing, and arm waving. But a couple of guys really seemed to dig it. One guy in particular is actually contemplating getting a starter kit with zero nicotine juice. I've known this guy since we were kids, and he's never been a smoker, except for a year or two of "illegal smile" smoking back in the 70's. Do any non-smokers actually jump into this?

There are some who start vaping even though they never smoked.... I figure they are capable of making their own decisions....

But there a lot of people here who are very much against it..... I have never figured out why they can be so adamant about it but they are.....

I would guess that someone who starts vaping without ever having smoked would probably lose interest in a short time, but that is just my gut feel......

I started e-cig this month just for fun. I am enjoying it. I am also low key about it. Current choice of flavor is one from my younger days the Clove. I just got back from a vape store in Oregon. I already forgot store name!

I have friends who consider themselves nonsmokers who badger me for a vape every now and again. They also visit hookah bars on occasion and tend to have a smoke when drinking, but still claim they don't smoke. I figure vaping is similar to using a hookah with flavored tobacco. It seems a lot of "nonsmokers" enjoy this sort of thing on occasion.

I'm sure that's how most of started smoking.
Me, I was 41 years old and picked up some Top tobacco and papers to roll my own, just for fun. Not long after I was smoking a pack of Pall Mall straights a day. Switched to Pall Mall filters, and was approaching 2 packs a day two and a half weeks ago. Tobacco free today!

From here on out, I'll reserve my "just for fun" activities to the bedroom!

I started vaping, then I stopped and started smoking, then I decided smoking was expensive, too risky, and just a general nuisance (for example, smelling like smoke or having to sneak away from my peers to have a toke), so I quit and started vaping again. Vaping has since become a hobby that I really enjoy, and I have no interest in smoking again.

If vaping was around when I first started my PAD+ habit in college, I would have picked up vaping instead. Unfortunately, that was 10 years ago. I have no problem with a never-smoker picking up vaping, as long as they are smart about it. Getting addicted to nicotine is nothing to laugh about. But I enjoy vaping so much, I don't have it in me to tell someone else they shouldn't.

There are the occasional never-smokers who stop by the forums, but they are usually met with hostility from some of the folks here. I don't get it, but I stay out of it. I'm sure there are many never-smokers that do vape, I just have no idea how many!

Edited to change non-smokers to never-smokers. I'm a non-smoker. We're talking about never-smokers. There's a difference. I need to trademark that term...

A few of my friends started vaping as a less-hassle alternative to pulling out the hookah all the time. I don't see why it should matter why you do it, if you enjoy it thats good enough.

I quit six years ago and started vaping just for the high and maybe shed a couple pounds I gained
I was out with a friend today and she's a non smoker and she wants to do it too

Vaping is ok in my books,just be careful in the nicotine strength you choose,if you must try it out start with a low 5mg or 6mg,dont go with 24 or 36mg,it may raise your blood pressure levels.

I don't any one that's never smoked that chooses to vape. Actually I don't know anyone of age that's never smoked. Neither do I know anyone of age aside from myself that vapes. While I have introduced it to people I know they have chosen not to make the change. If I did however meet someone that never smoked I would not turn them away from vaping. I would however tell them to go with 0nic juice. Some people I know that smoke picked it up because they said it helped them relax. If a never-smoker picked up vaping and said it helped them relax all the better for them than picking up smoking.
